Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 - Anyone else?

Post by Wavey Dynamicist » Fri Aug 17, 2018 12:34 pm

Just ordered a set of these to be fitted tomorrow.. After running 2 sets of PSS i wanted something a bit more special.

Anyone else run them on their B7? I'm expecting them to be trash when cold and in wet but i like a challenge.

Update:
Driving a little over the weekend and i'm definitely very impressed.. Even barely scrubbed in they were really impressive - the lateral force they generate, even when at ambient temperature is way above what the admittedly worn out PSS were giving, but the feedback and composure they offer is leagues above.

I did notice the sidewalls/general construction is a lot stiffer than the PSS and the ride is relatively a little jiggly and very occasionally crashy on the Bilsteins i'm running. but its not too bad.

Sharper turn in, more communicative and way more settled mid corner when loaded up - you turn in and the line just sticks, i feel like more adjustments had to be made with the old tyre. Can't wait to get them on a track and with different conditions but also see how they wear. One thing to note is that there is no wheel protection as most road tyres have so that's something to be careful of.

Not aware of anyone running these on a B7 but PhilT (admin) runs these on his NIssan GTR and I can confirm that they are useless in the wet, he was holding me up! haha

Think they are a good tyre for dry conditions though, maybe somebody else can offer some real life experience.

I’ve got them on the exige and my mates on their new GT3 RSs and Performante - good but sensitive to tyre pressures is the feedback from us

I had them for years on my TT Supra, they were 315/30/18 ie very wide and RWD - no problems in the wet or dry
With my black B7
I'm in B7th heaven
And with DRC
My ride is heavenly

With cup2's I think that special window gets a lot narrower. I'd rather go find a more special road with less peaky tyres, such as the PS4S's and do that more often.
