Coolant tank condensation

Post by Gary(rs4)87 » Fri Aug 03, 2018 11:56 pm

Hi guys,

Is it normal that I fitted new coolant tank and cap but just noticed that the condensation still too much and still loosing coolant. Not much but the last 3 weeks i topped up 1liter.

Aux rad fine
No coolant fluid under the car.
Radiators fine no leaks at all.

After cold start is a bit lumpy but just 2-3 minute.

Any idea?

these are old cars now and some of the plastic and metal pipework can suffer-best to run with undertray off for a while in an attempt to identify,it gets hot under the bonnet so a small weep will just evaporate ,perhaps leaving a little white stain
the cars shouldnt use any coolant at all

Was it ready mixed or did you use concentrate? If so did you use distilled/de ionised water?

Defo not the aux rads? Might still look OK with just a visual.

What about where you blocked your removed aux rad for the cold air feed. Is it sound?

When we fitted was ok but I will check today again but I haven’t seen any water leak from there.

So the issue was that T pipe which connecting in to the manifold. The old clamp wasn’t enough hold the pipe.
