I'm going to go for something like this - really not getting on with the factory nav in mine its terrible IMO.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Stereo-A ... 1438.l2649

Have the equivalent one in my M3 and its great, does loads more than the standard sat nav and much easier to use.

Oddly the Sat Nav unit I have in my RS4 seems even worse than the factory one in my old BM even though its 4 years newer!

Mine came with one of those and it's actually very good. I'm hooked up to 2 amps. It has DAB and I've moved aerial.to under dash with no effect on signal.
It has a numerous labelled connectors for canbus and bose
Reversing camera
Bluetooth phone is good. Hooked up to my phone for spotify etc.
It even displays Audi rings on start-up

Sprayed the silver knobs black last night, will take a pic tonight if your interested

When lights are on everything illuminates red like the climate controls etc.

Cup holder catches but a wiggle and it's ok

It's modern and works well. Prob not for ICE experts but when you drive a RS4 you already play wonderful tunes

Cheers
Gary

Good stuff gary if you could get a few pic in the car that will be great. I had a cheap double din in the T5 xzon or something and it was <beep>. But if ppl say this is great im all for it.

RS4 has the bose. You have amps as well extra ??

Bose amp was cut off and speaker outputs from amps connected to the loom, even power and ground lol. There's prob a post on here somewhere for doing this with a wiring colour guide. I've seen some use a bose amp female socket for the new amp loom.

The install in mine very nearly put me off buying. Thankfully this was all that had been molested.

It's a lot tidier now with fused power from battery. Does the job for me and doesn't look out of place in my opinion

I’m looking to upgrade my from stock but wanted something with Apple Car Play ideally.

I want to keep the original unit tho as I know some people really like it. If adding Bluetooth were easy I’d just do that as I use my phone for sat nav - just easier than a headunit

Apparently. My m3 had the equivalent of bose (hk) and the one I had for that worked well! Easy to wire up a reverse camera too as well!

If you do the trick with the Bose amp plug then you can simply swap everything back if the stereo loom is the same as this one. Not sure if they are all the same, big caveat from me

I think it's ok now I've used it and I can always switch back
My wife has the avh-x8600bt with all the trimmings. I did consider putting it in the RS4 but I feel the Android is better all round for me

Hi all I'm looking at getting a new radio for the rs and have a few questions about this one
What extras if any do you need to get for this?
will it go straight in without having to cut up any of the original wiring?
And how good is the Dab??

I didn't buy mine, it came with the car. From what I can make out it looks like it came with appropriate loom, I have no horrible splicing etc. My DAB is very good.
Been tweaking amps today and I think it's sounding very good
