I took the car to Campsec for their health check and the DRC system is still intact. Overall they said the car was in pretty original condition and a ‘good one’ as they put it.

They said that the DRC will go at some point (I’ve read a fair bit on here on the topic). I’m on the fence to maintain it or swap it out. I do like that it’s quite original so it’s weather or not to maintain that. What did you do with yours?

After failed 2nd time i fitted bilstein

when i did my carbon clean and head flowed and ported with the remap i informed my insurance
but because the gain was from 420 to 445 PS a gain of 6% so with that there was not much more to pay on my insurance i think it went up £30
the biggest gain on the tune was the torque from 430 NM to 479 NM
The torque gain was what stood out for me most. Your final figure was pretty high at 445. My final was 419 so back to manufacturer quoted figure really! My start point was pretty low at 344 too. Seems our NM figures were similar.

Good info on the insurance, seems logical to use percentage gain.

Coilovers for me.
Seems to be a very popular choice. I'll have some tough deciding time between now and a DRC failure!

It’s a no brainier. Fix the DRC and it’ll fail again anyway!

For me it would be down to how much of the DRC needs fixing - ie a shock or two I would be tempted to keep it, but if all the fittings are corroded then I think coilovers would beckon.

This thread does show the "danger" of buying a 2nd hand car if you are not aware of the modifications so can't notify the insurance company, particularly as the resulting increase seems very small.

Fair point on the DRC.

Totally agree on the danger, had I not found that paperwork or had it not come with the car I’d have been none the wiser and could have had an insurance issue. I do wonder though in that type of case who the burnden of proof would lay with? It’s not like an engine map is visible to the eye. Imagine the due diligence you’d need to undertake to find that.

Are you aware of the small button just next to the fuel inlet? Have a close look inside the fuel filler flap. That button does something like allow the air in the fuel tank to bleed more quickly (or similar, someone will be along with a batter description than that). If you toggle that button up or down immediately after you've filled the tank but before returning the pump nozzle to it's holder you should be able to get about another 7-8 litres into the tank. Ups the range quite significantly.

P
I totally wasn’t aware of that. I’ll check that out on the way home. That would make quite the difference. On fill up it’s been taking about 62L/63L which seemed an odd number. I’ll report back.

I'll echo the necessity of telling your insurers, though it's not too bad. Even Confused.com has a section about chipping, and for adding 5-10% more power made almost no difference. Not like in the bad old days - I was put off remapping years ago because my then insurer would have gone from £300 p.a. to around £1,300. Glad things are now more sensible.

You do have to be less 'on/off' with the throttle post remap, particularly when the engine is cold, but the car is definitely faster and livelier post-remap.

I've always tried to use Shell V-Power and think it's the best choice. The odd occasion using other companies' high octane stuff always reinforces this view.

I declared all of my mods and it added another £79. It's not as expensive as you might think.

Completely agree. I certainly not worth hiding it.

I lost a lot of sleep after writing my car off waiting for the insurance report. I won’t be doing it again.
