Respray

Post by Markwes » Tue Apr 24, 2018 10:12 pm

Just picked the car up tonight after having a full front end respray due to stone chips and also some corrosion on the bonnet.
Had the work done at Dils bodywork specialists ltd near Nottingham which is Audi approved. The work they’ve done is brilliant and would definitely recommend them to anyone needing paintwork doing.
They painted the front bumper, bonnet, both wings and then did a paint correction/ machine polish on the rest of the car for £550. The service was faultless and they even came and picked the car up from my house which is almost an hour away from them.
I’ll try and get some better pictures up once the weather improves again.ImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

That’s a great price! Well done

Have you considered paint protection film to keep it looking that nice?

So the places I know are down in and around south east/Surrey (venom wraps, SL Restoration, and KDS).

Best thing to do is to go onto the websites for Suntek and Xpel (the two prominent film manufacturers) and search for approved installers in your area.

I got xpel ultimate on mine and am happy with it, but I was chatting to the chap at SL Restorations about it recently and he prefers Suntek as it has better clarity.

I had a mixture of films fitted based on shine for the big flat panels like the bonnet and a better self healing one for the bumper etc. Can't remember which way round it was or even which films it was.

Looks a great job. Fantastic price as well. I'm looking to get the front end done on mine to tidy it up. Was thinking it would be a lot dearer than that though. Shame I live near Glasgow or else I'd be getting mine booked into the same place !

What sort of price is it to have the front end covered in paint protection film? I take it you guys just had the bumper, bonnet and wings done?

Your RS4 looks great and what a great price too. Your looking at £700 to £800 for film, more than your respray. It cost £770 for my RS4 and £750 for my E36 M3. Bonnet, wings, front bumper, front roof pillars, front roof lip, headlamps, rear underside of the rear bumper left and right plus a few other bits and bobs. It does work though. My RS4 has been to the ring twice, France and Croatia on holidays by the seaside and skiing in the alps this year. It's took some big hits and told the stones to fcuk off and still looks mint.
:bash:

RS4 was done with 3M Ventureshield, not self healing and needs more looking after than self healing, ie polishing after every wash as to stop the flies eating into the film.

Paint protection self healing film on my M3 was done by Cliffe at:

Both places good lads and great attention to detail.

I paid similar for my front wings, bonnet, bumper, grille inc quattro bit, front lip spoiler, side flaps, headlights, wings mirrors and strip along bumper. Just went back after 2 years for a detail and had the doors and roof covered as well.

Looks a great job. I need to do similar to mine - some stone chips and general 10 yr old paint at the front end could do with a spruce up.

The paint on the rest of car also needs some TLC so a joined up service like this with machine polish would be great. Does anyone have recommendations South London/Surrey sort of area (I wont hold my breath for a price as good as this)
