Yes, you need to reset the airbag light

Re: If i disconnect the batter ?
I thought it would only do that if you reconnected the battery and turn the ignition on whilst the steering wheel / airbag is off.
Re: If i disconnect the batter ?
I’m not sure Mike. Every time I have disconnected the battery and removed the steering wheel I have had to reset the light. Not sure if the order though. ESP light will be on top, although that will turn itself off at some point.MikeFish wrote:I thought it would only do that if you reconnected the battery and turn the ignition on whilst the steering wheel / airbag is off.

Re: If i disconnect the batter ?
OK I've not tried the steering wheel, but I know if I remove the seats then put them back in before turning the ignition on I don't get any warnings, but if I turn it on with a seat out I get the air bag light.
Re: If i disconnect the batter ?
I didn't get the airbag light on when i removed the airbag. I fitted the rs4 badge into the ttrs wheel which is fitted on mine .I disconnected the battery - ve lead . Keys out the ignition . As Jon j says esp light will come on but reset itself after a few hundred yrds .
Re: If i disconnect the batter ?
I didn’t get any lights on my C6 RS6 when I changed the steering wheel buttons which involved taking the air bag off. I didn’t disconnect the battery either.

I consulted Tim @ The Phirm and he assured me it was safe. I wasn’t totally reckless!!Jon_J wrote:Brave! LolHouse89 wrote:I didn’t get any lights on my C6 RS6 when I changed the steering wheel buttons which involved taking the air bag off. I didn’t disconnect the battery either.

Re: If i disconnect the batter ?
I changed steering wheel & airbag on Golf IV and just made sure the ignition wasn't turned on and no lights came on. I have VCDS so could have reset if necessary but it wasn't.
