Oil Cooler Options

Post by Silentk » Thu Apr 05, 2018 6:36 pm

Is there any alternative to the Forge Oil cooler kit out there? Mine has failed and Forge are quoting 2 weeks lead time to get hold of one, which is a bit of a pain!

Perfect thanks, I guess I'll need to go to Audi to get the pipes I need?

Yeah, they’re OEM only. I think about £360 inc VAT for both.

Don’t think so, just the cooler itself. I suppose you could get pipes made up by a hose supplier.

Ordered the Radtec, seems to be in stock thankfully.

Will speak to the mechanic tomorrow and see what else I’ll need.

You will definitely need new hoses, both because the originals will almost certainly be rotten, but also you have virtually no chance of getting the original pipes off the cooler due to the dissimilar metals.

Mocal oil cooler. It’s what Forge place in there kit. The braided hoses are pretty cheap to get made up anyway.

I’ve gone for the Radtec option, with the JHM connection converters and JHM hoses. Quality of both the Radtec and JHM products are excellent, and look straightforward to fit...but I’ll find out this weekend :)

How did it all fit? Did you require any additional hardware? I’m considering a similar approach - Thanks
