Spark plug part number correct?

Post by Pistolpete2543 » Thu Mar 08, 2018 11:22 pm

I need some help. Cut a long story short, I bought a set of plugs from local TPS & got my Audi dealer to fit them as part of a normal service. I supplied TPS with my VIN to ensure the correct plugs, and they gave me 06H905601A. I even phoned them back the next day to double check this & they confirmed they were correct. This is not a part number that has been referenced on this forum for the B7 RS4, & the previous service invoice for plug change lists 101905621C as being fitted.

Since having the plugs changed, the car is just not running quite right. Starts fine, idles fine, but it's stuttering badly at light throttle positions. Seems to go ok through the Rev range.

I'm wondering if the plugs aren't right for my car as this seems too much of a coincidence.

I got a set of plugs last July and it was the same part number you were given, and my car hasn't missed a beat since, possibly a faulty plug or coil pack

Checked an invoice I had from purchasing plugs from Audi a couple of yrs back, the part no is A06H 905 601A. Never had an issue with them, and they looked exactly like the originals that came out
Don't think plugs are your problem, make sure coil packs are fully clipped home

That's good, thanks for clarifying. It's going back to Audi on Tue to have the plugs checked, not sure if they can bench test them somehow to see if one is faulty.

That’s what I’m wondering, the ones fitted are single electrode, not sure if the ones that were changed were single or triple.

Audi changed to the single tip spark plugs a few years ago, as per part number 06H905601A, when I ordered mine they were shrink wrapped into a set of 8, so clearly they are intended for 8 cylinder engines. It was mentioned that the triple tips sheilded the spark a little bit more from the air/fuel mixture than the single tips so thats why they reverted back, and when I looked at the triple tips I removed, the side electrodes had no signs they had ever sparked, so little point them being there
