Brakes poor?

Post by sweatysRS » Sun Feb 25, 2018 9:58 pm

Don't seem to be biting as they should. Don't want to go to the expense of changing discs n pads if not necessary. Any ideas? Brake fluid a possibility?

If your pads and disks are in good shape then bleed your brakes. Take a look at this recent thread:

Previous owner said they tended to fade when the car driven spiritedly! Looking through previous receipts for the car it has had 2 brake fluid changes and discs and pads. Yellowstuff pads in the rear.

If you're getting brake fade fit some braided hoses, bleed the brakes as described in the thread link. Throw the yellow stuff in the bin and buy some Ferrodo DS2500's pads front and rear. The thing will then stop on a sixpence.

Ferodo DS2500 FCP1664H 2 sets ( 8 pads )
Bought them for £248 for 8 pads from:

http://www.jdl-brakes.com/

They are in Poland but great customer service and swift delivery.

Sounds like brake fluid needs changing to me.

FYI the DS2500 pads have no wear sensors if that is important to you.

Doubt there is much difference between them. I had HEL on my B7 so went for Goodridge on my C7. Couldn't tell any difference with either though.

Not for me. I didn't really expect to notice a difference on the new brake lines on the C7 but thought I'd notice a difference on the 7/8 year old lines on my B7. Maybe now they are 10/11 years old the difference will be more noticeable.
