Intermitant fuel pump not priming with ignition

Several times the fuel pump wont prime when switching on ignition.

If engine start is pressed it just tries to wind over. Only will leaving the car off for a few minutes seems to sort it as if it never had a problem.

Anyone come across this or know what/where I could start to look?

Cheers,

yes-change the fuel pump relay under ecu-there are 3 relays 2 large and one smaller-change them all while there[cheap enough]
this is becoming a fairly common problem with these cars
it could possibly be your pump itself but i would do the relays first

change them all while there
Absolutely this^^^

They're a bit of a pain to change out, as the wiper arm needs to be removed, but worth doing them all to save any further hassle.

when removing fit a new scuttle panel-get it from audi-its around £20 freshens up the area
take your time with wiper removal and careful with the screen-use tape where wipers go to aid re-fitting etc

I'm thinking about changing all relays while in there. Has anyone done this recently and have all the part numbers needed?

Looks like this is the fuel pump relay:
4H0 951 253
And I believe two are needed. (??)
I hear the updated are 644 ones:

Original ones are the 614:

Starter relay:
4H0 951 253A (??)

Any other relays I should swap in?
Thanks.

Engine componant relay. I replaced my 614 with 644 and seems to be ok now.
Its the number 2 slot in the relay panel.

Not good. This morning had same issue! Pump wouldnt prime. I only replaced one of the x2 614 relays however.

The diagram I was sent from Audi didnt match mine with some of the layout.. may have been for A4?

Does anyone have a link to the RS4 relay diagram?

Well looks like I have encountered the same problem. Went to move the car before going overseas with work & it wouldn't start. No noise from the fuel priming. Never had time to have a proper look before leaving, so have only looked on here.

Seems to be a bit of confusion between relays. Can someone confirm the correct ones and best place to purchase please? Plenty on ebay but you never know what your getting from ebay.
