Carbon clean and map (Before and After Northern Ireland)

Hey all.
I bought a 2006 RS4 avant a couple of years ago. She has 59k miles on the clock. Mighty clean inside and out. Over the past year I had been toying with the idea of getting the boat across the water to MRC and getting a carbon clean and remap. However my local tuning company Autotune recently got a new 4wd dyno and local Audi garage McAvoy Motors a walnut blaster so I thought I would do a test to see what the local guys are like.
First up was the before dyno.

The first dyno had 3 runs.
All pretty similar readings
So pre carbon clean it was 367.6bhp,

So now onto McEvoys for the carbon clean.
Andy took photos off every inlet before and after as well as videos before and after.

Andy said it was not too bad but I figured that from the dyno before hand.

So back up the road to Autotune for the results.
After carbon clean she made 384.1bhp. Ryan said that if we had shell v power or 98ron over here you could add 5-6 bhp to all figures.

Was pretty chuffed with the results. The car is totally standard so anywhere between 380 and 390 to me is a clean good going RS4.
Ryan then custom mapped it and managed to get another 13bhp on top and the gearing is splendid to drive. Pulls through them all with ease
396.6bhp
May not sound like a lot, but the drive home was like night and day. Especially at 5500rpm. I have over 40bhp difference at this point in 3rd and 4th gears.
So to sum up.
Pre carbon clean - 367.6bhp
Cleaned - 384.1bhp
Mapped - 396.6bhp
Enjoyment - priceless.
Cost - around the price of the boat across the water and accommodation.

Andy who done the carbon clean took videos with pen lights of every valve before and after. That is where you can really see the difference.

McEvoy motors in Carryduff.
A guy called Amdy who is Audi and VW mad is the guy that does it there. He is probably the best VW Audi mechanic in the country.
Highly recommend.

Just gave autotune a call and will heading up there soon for a remap. Got the carbon clean done at Audi a few months ago.

Great info here John, thanks for the detailed write up. Terry & Andy have both just done my DRC pipe work and dampers. Great job and very trustworthy with the pride & joy. I just wish they'd invest in the DRC charging tool. Terry mentioned about £380 for a carbon clean, not too bad.

Nice well done. Ask them how much power it actualy put down on the dyno to all 4 wheels.
Unfortunaltey in NZ they dont have an estimate crank calculation mostly so its measured the tend to measure by actual power to the rollers.
I basicaly did the same exact process as you so keen to know how we compare!. Thanks

Autotune just shared the rolling road.
It appears we have haters wondering why its only 396 after a clean and custom map.
