what clutch and fly wheel is best to fit
what clutch and fly wheel is best to fit
im having trouble getting gears at times there is no noises from the box or clutch and if the engin is off it will go into any but selecting when the engine is running is sometimes a bitch ...what clutch would you go for and would you stick with a duel mass or go to a single
cheers
cheers

OEM clutch, Single Mass flywheel. Don't forgoes to do all the associated parts.
Re: what clutch and fly wheel is best to fit
what are the differences and the pro's and cons between the single and duel mass.....this is the first motor ive had with a duel mass
Re: what clutch and fly wheel is best to fit
Dual mass dampens vibrations, is heavier and more expensive. Single mass allows more vibration (which means you might hear slight vibration sounds if you laboured the engine I.e. 30/40mph in 6th and trying to accelerate). Approx half the weight. Allows it to rev a little more freely, is about half the cost.
For comparison, the 911R has a single mass flywheel for a more raw experience, weight saving and freeer revving. So if you're ta good enough for a special car like that...
That said if you want things to be more refined and completely OSM, dual mass would be the way to go. Stick an aftermarket exhaust on the car and you've lost an element of that refinement anyway, so worth bearing in my new.

Re: what clutch and fly wheel is best to fit
I'm in the same predicament I've lost first second and reverse on mine it'd in garage at mo but gunna change the slave cylinder first to see of it fixes it but he's struggling to get the 6mm bolt out as it's rounded off
If this, doesn't work it will be prob clutch and flywheel
But what I've read about single mass wheels is they can make a noise when ticking over and setting off and can get vibrations through the pedal
I'm torn inbetween but you can get a duel mass flywheel delivered from rock autos in the states for £400
I'd like to here views from people who have the single mass wheels fitted too I could be swayed to a single

I went for standard set up, DMF from Rockauto as said. It's a really nice set-up in my opinion.
Re: what clutch and fly wheel is best to fit
Did you read my post Rickster?
I've had two RS4's with single mass and two with dual. Noise on the single is as per my above post.

Do you need a,longer rod on the slave if you go to single fly?
Which fly have you fitted or recommend?

They also have a race version available and associated clutch. Not sure if anyone has used this. Would probably think it's unnecessary for a non-boosted car.

Would also suggest speaking to Robnic on here and getting the updated metal braided clutch pipe.

Where is best to get the single mass flywheel from? Having similar issues with mine when hot so starting to think about getting it done.
Re: what clutch and fly wheel is best to fit
marc1 after your experiences with these which did you prefer..ive already got decat and miltec exhaust, this is my first audi and my first motor with a duel mass.....thats if it hasnt already been changed by the previous owner
Re: what clutch and fly wheel is best to fit
Single mass allows the motor to rev a little more freely I guess. However in most circumstances you wouldn’t be able to tell what’s in the car. Single mass = Less weight, cheaper and freer revving, but noisier at times vs. Dual mass = Heavily, quieter and more expensive.
I’d probably opt for the single mass again if I was doing it.
