New tyre time - Yokohama?

Post by Lukai » Thu Aug 31, 2017 2:30 pm

Hi,

The tyres on my Daytona Avant have finally given up the ghost, my local tyre guy recommended trying some Yokohama Advan Sport V105S. Has anybody had any experience with these?

At £135 a corner they are £50 cheaper than the Michelin Pilot Sport 4, which if they are decent adds up to quite a saving.

I was also contemplating Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 at £155 but the tyre guy said he has had complaints about them not lasting as long.

I know this is a common topic, but I couldn't find any opinions on the Yokohama's.

Thanks

Yay I have a Yoko friend! lol :bigwave:

Put them on the day after I bought the car and gotta say I've never had any issue with them, they stick like glue.

I did buy them before I started posting on here, and probably would have got Supersports, but nothing has made me want to change before they run out of rubber. I like spirited driving too, ask the guys who came to Wales, I was leading the way and nobody complained. :smile_smoking:

Apparently they are softer than supersports according to a few guys on here, but the michelins are a better all rounder. For a £200 quid saving you can put that towards some winter tyres if you're not happy with them.

Where abouts are you based?

I used to run Advan Neova's on the RS4 which are fantastic !!

Used to use the predecessor to V105 on my drift car as I was sponsored by Yokohama and they were ok - the new tyre is significantly better for sure.

I now run the MPSS purely down to extended tyre life compared to Neova's but with almost as good grip.

That's good to know, thanks.

Certainly seem like a decent tyre. I am not going to be racing or anything though so just want a good allrounder. I always thought that Yoko's were renowned for being really soft, which was my reservation with them... what with tyre wear and rolling resistance, I'm wary of them being false economy.

What sort of mileage have you had out of them?

I am based in South Yorkshire.

They've been on the car for 2 years and I'm at about 9k miles now. Not measured them but will try and remember and let you know.

If you do more miles than that then they may not be the best option, but I will measure them and come back to you. :thumb:

EDIT - may be 11k miles, can't remember if it's on 86 or 88k. Will confirm
