Hi guys,

I am getting a carbon clean done over the next few days, the mechanic has advised
that if I want they can remove the intake manifold flaps for more power, I had read online about the port separator removal at the same time and the spacers that go along with these.
Can someone please clarify the following for me.

Intake manifold de-flap:
Will this cause error codes to arise? -> the technician says they have done many before without issues regarding error codes and
removal of the flaps.

Port separator removal and spacers:
The technician advises that spacers are not required when removing the separators which they recommend when doing the de-flap mod.

Tuning:
Apparently the vehicle will not need re-tuning after the above modifications are carried out. Currently the vehicle has been chipped already.

Yes I spoke with AMD Tuning in Essex and they said the same because i have issue with the flaps, so after my holiday I will book my car to do it

I have called several other Audi workshops that say I will get error codes after removing the flaps and loose low-rpm torque.

Just dont know who to trust!

If you just remove the flaps without re-mapping the car you will get errors. Regardless of the car being already mapped, it will have to be re-done to avoid the errors.

i always understood if you left the spindle in place it would still be fine as long as it moves as required-the car doesnt know there are no flaps attached to said spindle once you remove them

However with the flaps removed the ECU will still fuel it accordingly to when the car had flaps. The flaps move on air flow from the manifold and are regulated by solenoid.
The air flow could be blocked off to the solenoid so that the spindle wouldn't move but then you will get a flap position error.
