X Pipe issue / Stage Two Map / De - Carb

Not sure if i am pleased or not ? any advice welcome please.

So my car felt sluggish to me and after MRC dyno checked her she came back as 343ps / 400nm which is not good,

advice given was carbon clean, then i wanted a stage two re mapp, it was beleived the clean had been done last year by the owner anyway so we thought their could be another issue (which there was)

so it has been cleaned and mapped, and as i am picking the car up later i dont have exact figures but apparently it came back as 400 - 410 still ? which is disapointing after all that work. So MRC removed my whole exhaust system and run it on dyno and it came back as 435

Now my first question is even at 435 is that good ? as for some reason i was exspecting more, anyway what we thing is now the issue is the x pipe as this is restricting it back to 400 - 410 which is alot.

I did question the x pipe fitters when it was fitted but they assured me it was ok, basically i have a x pipe as in an actual x shape where as i think its supposed to curve in and out rather than a blamtant x shape but advice or pictures welcome on this matter please.

anyway why i am not sure if i am pleased is firstly i put my trust in a garage when fitting the x pipe and it seems they have reduced my power by a fair bit, secondly even when this is changed should i be happy with 435? and lastly should i have the x pipe changed or both pipes just straightend as the box thing has been removed anyway?

any advice much appreciated

I wouldn't expect much from the remap. The car feels more responsive but there aren't huge gains to be had out of these engines.

You'd need to do cats a pipes to see bigger gains. Anything above the listed 418 is good.

Yep, what Jon said. You're only running 5 less than my car at stage 2 and I've got no cats no flaps and a cold air feed, albeit with the cf piper revo induction kit which is bad for heatsoak. You got the oem intake?

yes still oem intake. ok so i should be happy then ? ok

i will be more happy when the fabricater changes my x pipe cheeky sods, so any thoughts on x pipe (correctly done) over h pipe over straight pipe ?

Was chatting to Stu at mrc the other day, he reckons x pipe for performance, h pipe for sound

well i may consider leaving the car with them and decatting it too, but its already a bigger bill than i thought, is this actually worth while ? they also mention if they do this then something still has to be done with the catback ????? confused i thought that was de catting?

ok i have to call it a day at some point, decided to just keep the car as is and get the x pipe sorted, i dont do tack days and all that sort of stuff its just my everday run about car so i guess those figures of 435pps and 481nm is ok.

Still gutted though

Ardbob. It's not always about chasing numbers. As long as it drives better and you're getting a big smile then that's all that matters. So! Does it drive better than it did before??

What are you gutted about? The car will feel a lot different than when you dropped it off. Get the x pipe sorted and you'll be smiling again

That's normally aspirated motors for you. If it was turbo or supercharged then most cars would be night and day after having 2k spent on them but not a n/a car. Trouble is, once you've sorted your x pipe surely it will need mapping to the new pipe.
