HELP* freshly fitted coilovers knocking

managed to fit my brand new B14 Bilstein coilovers to my RS4 this afternoon/ evening with a lot of swearing...

went for test drive and its knocking over any slight bump both sides on the front.

now I'm guessing I've fitted something i shouldn't have or incorrectly... i fitted the new coilovers in the layout they came in, and diagram of the handbook provided but not sure if i needed to take something out?

I noticed the spacer (that i fitted under the top mount) provided by bilstein was much wider than the original one fitted by audi..

and there seemed to be a washer underneath the dust cover that bilstein provided which just looked loose with no real location...

Any advice welcome, guess I'm gonna be up early pulling all the suspension off in the morning :boohoo:

Did you tighten everything under load ?

Everything tightened under load.

Had the fronts off again and moved a washer position and seems to have irradiated the knocking noise, but now I have a creeking noise from the nsf when stationary and turning lock to lock.. anyone experienced this?

Below is the layout of the front shocks I have fitted if anyone can confirm this is right

There are a few threads about a noise with the B14 springs. Something to do with the spring helper being different between B14 and B16 I think. There is definitely a thread on here about it.

Top mounts will be 10yrs old. Also, if the helper springs are compressed that will make odd noises.

scratching my head a bit now.. i can't remember seeing a bearing, unless it dropped out when i took the old units off..

looking on that image I've put it there isn't one there? (where exactly should it be)

this may be a :bash: moment

Problem solved! Front spring wasn't sat evenly in the top mount so was rubbing on centre metal cup..

Anyone know of where to get the front and rear top suspension rubber bushes/mounts for RS6 C5 2003? Quickly? But not at dealer prices? ?
