RS owner to be

Hi All,

May have left this little late...

I currently own a Porsche 997 c2s..And looking to change to a Audi RS4.

My daily runner is a 535d.

Fancied a change also I have always loved the RS4's - and they some what are affordable now.

My brother owns a stage 2 S4 (10 plate) and though the car is rappid...I just prefer the wider meaner look of the RS4.

Last time I was in one was when my cousin had it..New in 2006!

I am heading out to see one tomorrow 2006 with 2 owners from new in blue with 75k on the clock for £17k.

I have been reading up...But can someone tell me what I should be looking for in particular?

How would this compare to the c2s?

The 911 had huge running costs..And most jobs were engine out jobs..So costly!

I am hoping the rs4 will be better in the long run..As it's a 2nd car..And I have decided not to buy the cheapest one..And start with low number of owners and reasonable Milleage...

Any help thoughts welcome..

Sam

Price wise with those miles and in that colour with 2 owners its cheap i'd say.... as for things to look at, DRC is the biggest pain along with carbon build up. Brakes are pricey to but other than that they're pretty solid cars...

As much as i hate diesel it pains me to say i think your 535d will feel alot quicker than an rs4

Yup the 535 is mapped 350bhp and 700lbs or torque...

Quick yes...However not planted at all..

Hence I got the c2s...After a year fedup of the repair bills...Also did not think the car was all that quick...350bhp claimed ..

How is the rs4 on rattles and shakes inside the car?

Just after a car I can have some fun in...And looks and sounds the part...

That price is very cheap imo. Go over it with a toothcomb, get drc checked and brakes etc

There is a new buyers guild in the FAQ section at the top. It covers all the main points and is extremely useful. But that price sounds very fair.
Go buy it!!!!!!!

As for rattles ect, mines really good and if your looking for a planted solid car then the RS should tick that box.

The rs4 is very well built inside. I only have one little anoying rattle that ive located to the passenger door pocket but i keep forgetting to stop it. I never felt my rs4 is quick as i come from a 380bhp 410ftlb impreza but you seem to beat alot of cars in a race

They are deceptively quick, but your never going to get the kick up the ass you get with a turbo. I had a B5 RS4 with less power than my current B7 and it felt massively faster.

Went to see this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-RS4-Salo ... SwTuJYqHMB

front end resprayed - the silver grill also had blue paint on it as it looked like it was sprayed while on the car..

Needed new front pads and discs - had cheap tyres on..so there a £2k spend already..

Checled the valve in the exhaust when the car was off..one was open the other closed..?

Sport button did nothing - Sport mode did come up on the speedo cluster..

when i pointed that out theguy said he has no idea and thought the seat buttons on the sides make the seat move... lol

anyway..did not seem he wanted to sell the car..made no effort whatsoever..

loved the color - but cant find another one with 1-2 owners at the moment...

Poor respray indicates possible front end damage (or just stone chips). If it's carboned up then that's £800 straight off. Sounds a bit of a dog that one.

My previous car was a 535d remapped and was quick but the gear changes in the crappy slush box slow it down and can't take above 700 nm torque as the torque converters are weak only problem with the rs4 you don't have that instant torque low down compared to the twin turbo 535
You have to drive the na engine hard in high revs to feel the reel power but is a lot quicker then the BMW and unbelievable Road feel handling and steering

Seat pump can be turned off by the dash menu so don't assume there not working.
