Clutch issue
Any one expericed this before.
Driving around town yesterday and the gear selection was feeling very notchy and the bite point very close to the floor....now I replaced the clutch 14 months ago and I've covered 6000 miles since. I replaced the slave when I did the clutch
By the time I got the car home unable to select gear pumping the peddle not making a difference either.
What's every ones thoughts.... I'm thinking bleed the system first failing that the master cylinder is goosed
I could feel it getting progressively worse
The peddle pressure feels fine as well and fluid level hasn't dropped at all.

Re: Clutch issue
Could be a number of things. Try bleeding the clutch first and see if there is air coming out. If not then it's box out my friend.

Re: Clutch issue
I had the same thing after a 3000 mile clutch change and it was the thrust bearing. Audi changed the whole clutch and fly wheel under warranty as they installed the 1st one.
Bloody clutche's are a pain in the arse as the only way to find out what it is, is by taking the bloody thing apart.
Good luck .

Mines in at the moment for a gearbox rebuild / clutch and uprated pipe. Can't wait to get it back.

Re: Clutch issue
Well got it in the ramp this morning. Bled the clutch system twice with plenty indication of pressure but still wouldn't go in to gear
Could feel slight kick back thru the peddle when resting my foot on it so whipped the gear box out expecting to see the release bearing buggered but no it's ok lever is ok pressure plate fingers all ok no visible fluid leaks either from anything.
This leave the master cylinder
Going to order new bearing and leaver get a new slave and updated pipe. Can someone point me in the direction of the updated pipes ?

Re: Clutch issue
I've got the dreaded sticky clutch pedal at the moment.
Got a stage 3R JH Motorsports clutch and lightweight fly wheel going in on Wednesday. Also got a new master cylinder and updated braided hose going in with two new clutch switches.

Re: Clutch issue
That master cyclinder doesn't look the easiest to replace not much room down the side of the servo to get the fluid supply pipe off.

The steel slave upgrade is not bad, the solid SS line all the way up by the firewall it's not a fun job. But all worth it in the end.boombastik wrote:That master cyclinder doesn't look the easiest to replace not much room down the side of the servo to get the fluid supply pipe off.
