Iv been getting s slight noise at the rear right when going over bumps. I asked audi to take a look while servicing and said they couldn't spot anything even on test drive.
So I just popped a wheel off to take a look. There is a bit of fluid around under there but nothing looks loose. A few photos attached is spprdvhate any advise.

Best to give it all a good jet wash /clean and re check after a few hundred miles . Looks like your rear shocks may need replacing .

Can I check the fluid level in the system for the shocks or not? I was wondering if I should just. Hangs this shock which may be noises invade it knackers the DSC valve. Any thoughts?

Certainly looks like you have some fluid around the damper tube. You cannot check the level but could get the system pressure tested by Audi or a DRC specialist, but not sure how much they would charge. Yes, if you continue to drive with leaking DRC you could damage the central valves which are expensive.

Are rear shocks expensive? I see most people just upgrade to Bilstein etc. Seems a shame to loose the benefits of DSC. any thoughts?

Don't foget to the check the diagonally opposite shocks as they are connected. When my left rear shock went it sounded like the front right.

Some people change to the bilsteins becuase they are about the same price as 4 shocks. The KW V3s cost more though but people are worried about repeated DRC failures which is not very common as the latest shocks are much better than the original ones. Also, the valve and pipes sometime needs replacing and then the price starts adding up. I replaced shocks and pipes to keep my DRC.

I didn't spot the diagonal shock when I took the wheel off. Where abouts is that hidden?

The front shocks. Behind the front wheel. The front left is connected to the rear right and the front right is connected to the rear left.

Ahah I see. The noise is definitely coming from the back, as you heard it more from the rear although it's not very load just small bump if you hit a little sharp bump. Big bumps down seem to effect it.

My noise came from the front when the rear shock failed. As the rear was leaking and lost pressure, the fluid went from the front to the rear so the front was empty and knocking even though the fault was at the rear.

Gotcha. I'll whip the front opposite off tommorow and take a look.

Mine left fwd knocks aswell and has small amounts of fluid coming out, but the guys at audi said nothing to worry about because almost all shocks on all cars has abit of fluid coming out. Did not think more about it since, but may be a good thing to properly checking it out.. I've heard replacing all dampers is like 3000 euros, correct?

I got two done for 1100 euro iirc, but that was with a discount.

The dampers are about £200 and probably the same in labour so I'd say about £1600 for all 4 from an independant using genuine parts. But if you start replacing pipes and valves then it adds up quickly.
