Power run
Hello all ,today I booked my recently purchased B7 RS4 in for a power run
The car is in standard form a 2007 model saloon with a full Audi service history with a respectable 63k on the clock
It made 360hp is this a reasonable result as I know they can be big variations in out put. Looking for advise, Is this a good starting point for remapping etc or would it be better to do carbon clean first any advise would be appreciated

Hard to say.
360 is a bit on the low side. That could just be bad carbon buildup, but you'd expect slightly higher if carbon was the only issue. Although, heat soak could be a factor, and the fact all dynos are different. Even the way the car is strapped down can make a difference to how it reads on the dyno!
When I recorded 365PS on a dyno last year, that got me worried that I had a vacuum leak or perhaps some sticking inlet manifold flaps. I took it into MRC, and first thing they noted was that on their dyno, it made 380PS. They commented that as the other dyno runs were done with my bonnet closed (and engine hot), I probably had heatsoak, which wouldn't have helped the figures.
I had them carbon clean the manifold while it was there, to see if it would make decent power once clean, and therefore rule out any other issues. It already had an MRC map, and made 427PS after the clean.
With regards to the age old question of "is a carbon clean worth it"? You'll get loads of different opinions, and ultimately, best to just know the facts and make a call.
- A proper carbon clean is not cheap, and the terraclean/enginecarbonclean shortcuts do not work
- You cannot prevent the carbon building up again. You can slow it by red-lining the car often
You can remap the car cleaned or dirty, doesn't really matter. Keep in mind that the main benefit of a remap is improved driveability, and not any increase in power. If you go for an MRC map, you get absolutely electric throttle response in sport mode.

Exactly my thoughts.
360 is low for a carbon car. But it might be down to the dyno. If it reads that low on the MRC dyno I'd expect other issues such as a slight vac leak.

I think mine was around 370ps when first put on the dyno at mrc. After a carbon clean, stage 2 manifolds and stage 2 remap it made around 440ps.
I don't think 365ps is way off for a car in need of carbon clean.

Mine made 370 on the MRC dyno. Carbon clean, stage 2 map and deflap and it made 424.

My old car ran 343 on MRC's Dyno - I was told this was just Carbon build up by Doug but maybe there was something else they sorted as well - I paid for a stage 2 and CC and it then read 431 i think it was - the car felt way quicker after that.

thing is to make sure it has good fuel,plugs and air/fuel filters-just the very basics make a good difference-particularly quality fuel for a good many miles beforehand to allow the car to run a decent amount of timing advance without detecting knock
