Genuine rs4

Hi can anyone recommend a place to buy a decent jenuine rs4, I purchased one recently from a dealer only to be told by them thair a to mutch wrong with it and they weren't prepaid to fix it so today I cindly gave it back after it being described as immaculate wot a joke! Anyway enuph of them. It's hard to no a good dealer u can trust these days with sutch a beautiful car so hence the reason I'm posting up on thiss inthusiasts site. If anyone does no of a good dealer ide appreciate any advice thanks.

What is your budget ? look online and just take your time finding one . Plenty of private ones out their for sale

At least you got a refund and didn't get strung along. As for buying a good one, theres always a element of luck wether you buy it private or from a dealer. With a dealer you get a warranty and a little piece of mind, with a private sell you get to meet the owner and will get a better feel for the car, but no comeback as it will be sold as seen....a bad car does not = a bad dealer if they look after you. If i was you id look for a car in a forums classified, this way you are more likely to buy one thats owned by an enthusiast and can also check back though their posts and see if there has been any major problems..

Do your research, spend time looking into things, don't jump on the first one you see.

I managed to not only speak at length to the guy I bought my one off of, but also spoke with the owner before him after reading many threads on here.

A dealer is there to sell you a car. Don't make his job easy and make sure he satisfies you with all of the information you want.

Be happy to walk away if you have a niggling feeling about things. There will always be another one come up for sale.

The car drove and looked perfect to be fair to the dealer, I did a lot of research and spoke at length to the dealer before purchasing it but the problems arose wen I had to travel for 5 hours home in it and different issues were arising. Full Audi service history 2007 61k to be fair it's the first rs4 I've ever owned and chequed all the normal tel tail signs or common probs with an rs4, perhaps the journey caused different issues to arise, thanks for the advice guys. I'm just looking to be pointed in the right direction of an enthusiasts site cheers.

Out of interest, what were the problems as it sounds like it should have been a solid car.

Mark - as others have said - take your time. It took me nearly a year to find one I was happy with - and I tihnk I got mine not long after joining this forum (so I'd been looking way before finding this place!). Your best bet would be a car from a forum member - you will know that it's been looked after. Now youve had a duff one, your in a better position to know what is / isn't right on these cars. Get out there and look at a few (not only is it a good way of working out whether the car is a good one, it's fun!)

Aux rads started leacking seized caliper it developed a miss fire after my own investigation possible coil pack plugs etc severe carbon build up even tho I had a receipt for it being cleaned 300 miles before I bourght it oil cooler rad air con stopped working after vag scan airflow meter. Lol that Wos one expensive ride home

I totally agree with u I was a member of audizine, but ever so glad I came across, I now of u mean about the adventure I can aside u mine will start next week, as I'm leaving Cardiff to pop over to Ireland to have a look at another rs4 next week, I've researched these cars for over a year now and the previous rs4 showed no problems on the test drive so I'm glad in so many words that I had the journey back home to show the true faults of the car. Ps thiss rs4 is from an inthusiasts plus picks of a carbon clean.. Thanks for the advice

I'd recommend a private sale. I must admit I did jump in and buy the third car I looked at. Although the car was in great condition, good service history and a great price. Another thing that I look for when buying a car is finding a solid bloke that has clearly cared for the car and knows about it and can answer questions. The guy I bought mine off told me he doesn't let his kids in there, to me that was a good indication he had cared for the car. So yeah if you can go enthusiast owned for sure, that's worth a lot more than low miles or a 3 month warranty.

You will be better off paying a bit more for an expensive private sale and ideally known forum car or owner . The dealer stuff is generally tarted up stuff to a price point whereas the private stuff is sorted although there are s few that buy them and run them on a shoestring

Those are fairly common issues and in all honesty you're unlikely to find one without a few issues given the age of these cars now. I bought mine with a couple of small issues that I got money off for. Have found a couple more since, it ls the nature of older performance car ownership.

I bought mine from a knowledgeable member of this forum and have had some problems to sort out, it's to be expected to a degree due to age of the car..
