Rear brake disc options

Post by Oakesy » Wed Aug 31, 2016 2:14 am

My rear brakes are due for replacement. For the cost of Oem discs from Stoke Audi there are two piece disc options available from Tarox or JHM which look pretty smart but I can't find any reviews on them.

Does anyone on here have Tarox or JHM rear discs? Any recommendations?

Cheers

"Venom" pipe in brother - you run the JHM rears, right?

I was looking at these,

Not particularly cheaper once you add in the crappy exchange rate, shipping and possibly the VAT added at customs.

I've looked at those Range Rico but have also seen a couple of bad reviews over performance. For the same price as Oem and less hassle I think I will stick with Oem over Ecs.

I just got the rs4 mot'd and the rear brakes were a corrosion advisory, i just removed both today, cleaned them up and refitted them. Pads still have plenty of life and the discs are at 21mm.
I took her for a spirited drive and then had a look, rear discs have barely been rubbed, front discs are like mirrors as youd expect.
I know the fronts do most of the work but i feel the rears are doing next to nothing, any advice? Can i change the bias?

you dont want to change the bias-the rs4 has huge rear brakes compared to most cars-they dont do much work by design
if you alter the bias the rear might step out at speed under braking or mess with the abs/traction etc
i dont use my car much though and the rear brakes do look similar to my fronts, but when i do use it i make sure and go heavy on the brakes to remove deposits/surface corrosion etc

My brakes look similar to your Rico. I think they're past skimming etc so I'm just going for new discs and pads.
Tarox is looking like the likely option. They seem like a quality item and the reviews are good. Unfortunately the rear 324 disc options are very limited.

I'm thinking the sport japan finish will match my ceramics well rather than the turbine or groove finish.

Why not the D95 style? Surely that is a much closer match to your ceramics?

I hadn't seen the D95. They would suit the car a lot better. Cheers Mike

They mention they do them in a D95 but they don't show them on the page of styles. But D95 is the drilled version with no slots.

Like you say, no pictures of the D95 but just in the writing. Anyhow, they're ordered and will hopefully be with me in a couple of weeks. Looking forward to fitting them.

There's pictures online if you google it. Not the same size or fitment but gives you an idea of what they look like.

I have those on my RS4 - and I've been happy with the results. I'd buy them again.
