Can't say I've heard of a head gasket failure on a B7!!!.

I have however heard of many a auxiliary radiator failure which if your garage is new to the RS4, they might over look as a potential failure point.

Same here, never heard of a head gasket failure on a b7, it will be more like the aux radiator like said above, think every one on here has changed one of them

I had both of my fittings on 2 coolant lines start leaking, so I would look at those. I replaced them both and perfect now. I was dropping about 1/4 tank every 2-3 weeks.

Thanks for the replays guys I've never heard of one going either I'm getting conflicting news of the garage it's an 07 with 70k but then again they are saying the dripping is coming from the front witch would be the rads, there saying wen these came out they had problems with the heads on them, I bourght it a week ago from a garage so at the mo I still have my right to take it back! But if it's not head related I want to keep it I love the car and I'm so confused? Wot to do. It seems to be holding back around 1 to 300 reves almost slightly bogging down but then bursts into life. They reackon the water in expansion tank is pressurising ?

If the head gasket had gone wouldn't there be mayonnaise under the oil cap? Never head of this on a B7 or the head problems they mentioned. The guys above are most likely right about the six rads. Pull the fog lamp grille off and shine a torch in there and check them both out. Put your hand in there and feel for any water. Start the car up and let it get really really hot (maybe go for a drive first) and check for any steam coming from the fog light area.

Your probably right tbh I think I'm getting fobed off by the garage one guy is saying one thing and the other is saying another I thought expansion tanks were ment to pressurise or could thiss be a faulty cap etc.

When the car is hot there will always be pressure in the bottle, as mike says fog light grill off (just pull off) an have a look up there. Some times you can see a pinkish crap round the edges of the aux rads an that will be anti freeze where its leaking. Anyway you could get it to mrc? They will sort you out an tell you exactly what it is.

All expansion tanks pressurise to a certain extent. If it's pressurising and not overheating then it's likely you won't have a fault with your head gasket. Also if there is air in the system you will get pressurising problems which can happen if it hasn't been need properly. Get the rad changed, it don't sound like the casket to me

Both my Aux radiators were leaking on the back sides only (so not visible until removal of belly pan) and the only sign was a 'sweet' smell every so often (mostly when going up hills slowly when then car was warm randomly!)
