MRC working their magic...

Cars in with MRC for a carbon clean (engine management light was on caused by carbon confusing the sensors). While it's there I've decided to have a stage 2 map (this was going to happen but not for a while). Not looking forward to the bill, but am looking forward to seeing the difference!

Be interested to hear what Bhp you have before and after. I had a carbon clean last year, before was 325, only got 390 with stage one remap

It was 345bhp before clean and map. Will see what they've managed to squeeze out of it when I get it back tomorrow.

Must be quite badly coked up then, you will certainly notice the difference when you get it back.

Soooo....
There was approx 3mm of carbon build up, which according to Doug is pretty bad.
Stage 2 map and decoke - now 424bhb / 473nm.
Very, very pleased with the difference!!

Carbon will not make the power drop to 345bhp no matter how bad. Normally carbon accompnaied by a vaccuum leak will give numbers this low.

10bhp increase from a remap over factory figures on a 9/10 year old car that reputedly never made factory figures when new is good going. It shows these car did make the power when new, it's just that by the time anyone drove them to a dyno they were alreayd coked up.
Was it 424bhp or ps?

Cov - I do have some photos, yes.
Mike - my bad - it was PS not bhp. I read the numbers only! There wasn't any mention by MRC of a vacuum leak.

Did you go for the stage 2 manifold ?
Mine did 370odd bhp before and 435 bhp after carbon clean, stage 2 manifold and stage 2 remap. I think mine was also 473nm afterwards.
Good numbers from yours.

If by stage 2 manifold you mean did it have the manifold flaps removed - yes, I went for that too.

I could do with a bit of advice, mine before carbon clean was 325bhp no mention of vacuum leak, just carbon. After carbon and stage 1 got 390bhp , still a bit disappointed. They did another run in 5th gear and the graph was a bit shakey but it hit 437??, any one any ideas which figures should be correct, and is 390 still low after carbon clean and re map??
