Lowering help - front only!
Lowering help - front only!
My car is on ss+ and it's starting to annoy me about how high the front is lol
I've had a price to fit kW adjustable spring kit but that works out at £1,000 which I think is a lot since I will not be messing with adjustment once done.
What other options are there to just lower the front?
I've read about the b5 perch mod but not too sure on this.

Re: Lowering help - front only!
Are you bothered by the front wheel to arch gap, more than you needing to lower? If so what about 20' wheels?

Re: Lowering help - front only!
I've thought about 20s but I've just had new tyres and refurb so don't want to waste that
Re: Lowering help - front only!
I've got H+R springs on mine running 20's and the front is perfect but the rear is <beep> lol. Was looking at buying a KW adjustable kit just to fit the rear adjustment as that doesn't require removing the struts
Re: Lowering help - front only!
20's makes the need for lowering even more obvious for some reason so this will make it worse not better.
How about H&R springs on the front only and leaving the rear standard?

Re: Lowering help - front only!
Yeah I've see your car and noticed your comments before lol the kW kit on its own is still £500
Re: Lowering help - front only!
I recon that would work. Couple of guys had the SS+ suspension yesterday and the rear sits lower than mine on H+R's. I have been tempted to try and find a set of SS+ rears to swap my rears out for.MikeFish wrote:20's makes the need for lowering even more obvious for some reason so this will make it worse not better.

Yep. The KW is expensive. Got Grizz (Unit 20) on the case of seeing if they would just supply the rear adjustment parts rather than the full package!!!.
Re: Lowering help - front only!
Have you got the correct H&R spring kit?
My mate had a saloon with the H&R kit fitted and the back sat too high.
Think they do a kit for the Avant & Cab which are heavier at the rear so use a firmer spring rate for the back springs.
If you fitted them to the lighter saloon the rear would sit too high.

Re: Lowering help - front only!
Fitting 20' wheels will close the gap by 1/2" if retaining the 35mm profile, but by approx 7mm if dropping to the 30mm profile but aesthetically I understand where your coming from, bigger wheels = more focus on the wheels and hence the gap becomes more of a visual issue, think it's adjustable springs thenMikeFish wrote:20's makes the need for lowering even more obvious for some reason so this will make it worse not better.

I tried to get hold of rear adjustable springs only from KW but they wouldn't sell me a split kit.RichieRS wrote: Yep. The KW is expensive. Got Grizz (Unit 20) on the case of seeing if they would just supply the rear adjustment parts rather than the full package!!!.
I want to raise my rear because it sits way too low and that's at the highest setting (cheap sh!t coilovers) so I'm after a taller rear spring. Somewhere in between how it sits now and the stock spring would be ideal. An H&R spring kit is only £180 so that's probably the best option for me.

I had thought of this before but never really checked. Car was already on them when I bought it so just made do!!.
Now its beginning to bug me somewhat so I need to find a solution. SS+ rears might be a cheap solution if I can find a set!!!
Re: Lowering help - front only!
Ahhh right. See what Unit 20 say as I know they have a pretty good relationship with them!!!.ASC wrote:I tried to get hold of rear adjustable springs only from KW but they wouldn't sell me a split kit.RichieRS wrote: Yep. Think Nick (Daytona bread van) has H+R springs on his with 20's and that looks pretty good for fast road stance.
Re: Lowering help - front only!
If you go for 255/30/20 tyres the width and rolling radius is exactly the same as the OEM 255/35/19 so physically no difference at all overall. But yes, I think you are right it draws your eyes in. I didn't think mine needed lowering until I fitted 20s, then it became a must.R1RS4 wrote:Fitting 20' wheels will close the gap by 1/2" if retaining the 35mm profile, but by approx 7mm if dropping to the 30mm profile but aesthetically I understand where your coming from, bigger wheels = more focus on the wheels and hence the gap becomes more of a visual issue, think it's adjustable springs thenMikeFish wrote:20's makes the need for lowering even more obvious for some reason so this will make it worse not better.

Re: Lowering help - front only!
If one of you wants the rear springs from the KW and the other wants the front, why don't you buy the kit and split the cost? Or am I getting confused about who wants what?
Re: Lowering help - front only!
^Genius! Can't believe that was staring me in the face!
So Rw@@dy want to go halves on an H&R spring kit? £90-ish each..
