What's the tyre best suited to the RS4, I usually buy Michelins, Continentals or Pirellis, but have had Bridgestones in the past on other cars.
Is there a tyre that's the best one to get ?
I have Continentals at the moment but they are noisy and seem to tramlines a bit.

Black ones made of rubber.

Seriously, there are dozens of threads on this, and everyone has a different view. Have a search.

All of the below seem popular:

- Michelin Supersports
- Michelin Pilotsports (not sure if 2 or 3 meant to be better, There's a "4" coming soon too)
- GY Eagle F1
- Conti Sportcontact 5

This is what I have run on my RS4's in order of preference.

1) Michelin Pilot Super Sport
2) Michelin Pilot Sport 3
3) Continental TS830p - Winter tyre (number 1 below three degrees celcius)
4) Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3
5) Pirelli P-Zero
6) Toyo Proxes T1

Which set felt the most suited ?

No question, the Pilot Super Sports. Michelins also provide a stiffer sidewall to the tyre, which I feel is better suited to the RS4.

Never tried the PSS's in sub-zero conditions but they did work better in the dry and just as well in the wet, compared against the only other contenders - being PS3's and GY F1's. I would still run the Continental TS830p for bad winters though.

My preference based on what I've had on my RS4 over the last 9 1/2 years:

1) Michelin Pilot Super Sport (best handling)
2) Michelin Pilot Sport 2 (best ride)
3) Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric (best rim protection)
4)
5)
6) Vredestein Sessanta (OK if you're on a budget)
7)
...
1,000,000) Pirelli P Zero Rosso (a POS IMHO)

Michelin Pilot Super Sport. Don't even bother with any of the others given there is a very small deference in cost.

Michelin pilot Super Sports for me.

supreme dry weather grip and excellent wet weather grip. You'd have to drive like a complete sphincter wrinkle to break traction in the dry, and when you break traction in the wet you better have a decent amount of talent, unless you've just done a drag race :bigblink:

Road noise isn't that noticeable (I have a loud exhaust) from the tyres, exhaust aside, my Wife has Pirelli tyres on her Mk 7 Golf and they are horrendously noisy.

Wear rate is very good, compared to 2 sets of Continentals I had previously.

Must add a voice from down under...

I've now had PSS's in my B8 RS4 for a week - and the car has completely transformed into, hmm, a precise tool like a surgeon's scalpel compared to the OEM P Zeros. Seriously, the difference is like night and day, PSS'S seem to have even fixed the noticeable mid area numbness in the steering. They are just amazing! Never again anything else.

Naturally, we are blessed here with the climate, don't need to worry about low temperatures. But I will add one more thing: pay extra attention to wheel alignment. I have managed to find a guy who is a real genius what it comes to wheel alignment, when this is done properly it makes at least as big difference to how the car drives as the tyres. I don't know for sure what the settings I have currently are , but not exactly what the factory recommends. So Audi garage probably won't be able to achieve the best result.

But again, as so many others here have said, don't even consider anything else but Michelin PSS!

Audi in sweden are recommending Nokian Hakkapellitta Black or Hakkapellitta Z-Line for the nordic climates. 200£ cheaper than the Micheline Pilot Super Sport and they told me they were just as good if not better. So if you are living in a place where (in summer) the temperature can vary betweebn +5C at night to +25C mid day, i'd recommend the Nokians :)

I'd still take the PSS over any Nokian summer tire at minus 273.15 degrees C.
