SAT NAV DISC 2015 W/Speed Cameras
SAT NAV DISC 2015 W/Speed Cameras
Just upgrades my Nav Disc for £20 to the latest 2015 update.
As you can see, this offers full 7 digit postcode search, wider POI and more importantly, Speed Cameras. The quality of the disc is great and I've had zero issues so far.
My Sat Nav Eject button was locked from factory. To unlock this you'll need VAGCOM and you'll need to do this: Channel
067: CD/DVD Drive
000 - Normal/Eject-Button enabled
001 = Eject CD/DVD (will not be saved)
255 = Eject-Button disabled/locked (Anti-Theft-Protection)

Re: SAT NAV DISC 2015 W/Speed Cameras
Very interesting - does it provide warnings of the speed cameras or do they simply feature on the map ?
Re: SAT NAV DISC 2015 W/Speed Cameras
They just feature on the map. Useful ALL the time.MB2 wrote:Very interesting - does it provide warnings of the speed cameras or do they simply feature on the map ?

Re: SAT NAV DISC 2015 W/Speed Cameras
The big headline for me here is the full postcode. I didn't think we'd ever see than on an RNS-E. Is the disc available on ebay?
Re: SAT NAV DISC 2015 W/Speed Cameras
Don't worry, found them on ebay, both genuine and dodgy copies.MikeFish wrote:The big headline for me here is the full postcode. I didn't think we'd ever see than on an RNS-E. Is the disc available on ebay?
Re: SAT NAV DISC 2015 W/Speed Cameras
Could you put a link up to them?
Re: SAT NAV DISC 2015 W/Speed Cameras
Can't at the moment but just search for RNS-E map 2015. Some of them have the identical number as the photo above.Rw@@dy wrote:Could you put a link up to them?

The 2016 disc 8P0 060 884 CG is already available in Europe, but it normally doesn't arrive in the UK until the following AprilWotsirb wrote:to the latest 2015 update.
The map data is frozen in the August before, so the 2015 disc has map data from August 2014 so don't expect the very latest road changes to be included - I know of two roads not on the 2015 DVD, the North Bersted relief road and a section of the A505.
Also note that the DVD with camera data is a burnt (copied) DVD not a pressed one, and some RNS-E drives will have trouble reading it in very cold and/or very damp weather - I tried this DVD last winter and it failed to read on several cold damp mornings so I went back to the genuine Audi DVD.

I believe this is a software hack and not an official Audi release.
Audi stopped developing the RNSe platform as it's no longer in production, so the last firmware is:
RNSe mk1 = SW0650
RNSe mk2 = SW0220
As Petrol Dave said, newer map data is all you will get with Audi products now.

Thanks for the clarification - was just about to buy a genuine 2015 disc from eBay ! So if I buy a gen disc do I not get full postcodes either ?

Re: SAT NAV DISC 2015 W/Speed Cameras
I was lead to believe the copied disks caused damage to the RNSE laser. Does anyone know if that's true? I wouldn't mind full postcodes but not at the expense of the unit itself.
Re: SAT NAV DISC 2015 W/Speed Cameras
I used a copy disc in my old RNS-e, which worked fine for a year, then it stopped reading discs, even gen ones.

Re: SAT NAV DISC 2015 W/Speed Cameras
As an Admin on audiforum.us for over 10 years I've helped many people retrofit and repair the RNS-E. Prior to 2005 the DVD drive on the RNS-E was very susceptible to overheating and subsequently failing when reading copied DVDs. But in 2005 Audi changed the DVD drive and reports of failures of the new drive (which will be in all factory fitted RNS-E on the B7 and in all 2010+ RNS-E) even with copied DVDs are very rare, but do still happen.marc1 wrote:I was lead to believe the copied disks caused damage to the RNSE laser. The main problem now is inability to read a copied DVD in cold and/or damp conditions, but since reading a copied DVD is harder (and hence the laser power needs to be higher) than a pressed DVD so the risk of failure when reading a copied DVD is still increased.
