Evening all, what's the best way of getting my music to play through the rnse in my 2006 rs4. Currently got some on a sd card and a X car link thing plugged in and iPod connected through
It but it's terrible. Can't choose a song and the songs aren't named on screen so it's like the iPod is on shuffle and you can't see what its playing. Anyone got a decent solution? Cheers
iPod connection.

Re: iPod connection.
The Audi iPod interface for the pre-2010 RNS-E isn't much better as it still reduces the iPod to 6 virtual CDs and you still don't see any track info.
IMHO the best OEM way is to change the RNS-E to a 2010+ version which will then allow you to swap the glovebox CD changer to a CAN version of AMI which you'll be able to plug the iPod into (with the correct lead), then you'll be able to control the iPod from the RNS-E and see all the song info on the RNS-E screen and DIS.

or if you don't fancy the extra £300 on the AMI, just do the RNSe swap and leave 2x 32Gb SD cards permanently in the slots - 64Gb will give you loads to choose from. The RNSe swap would make a nice Christmas project to keep you away from the movie repeats on the telly...

I've wired one of these airmusic boxes into the glove box. You need an iphone or another device that supports airplay but is works great with spotify. No track names on the RNS screen though, you need your iphone in a holder to select the music.

Don't be tempted to try SDXC cards (64GB and 128GB) as they don't work even with the 2010+ RNS-E.pDkALO wrote:or if you don't fancy the extra £300 on the AMI, just do the RNSe swap and leave 2x 32Gb SD cards permanently in the slots - 64Gb will give you loads to choose from.
