Mapping help

Hi all, I am a newbie here so please forgive me but I couldn't find what I wanted. I am imminently to become the proud owner of a B7 2006 RS4 Avant. That car is absolutely gorgeous, 79k miles with a service book full of stamps from Audi. My question is, living in the north west of England ( Preston ) are there any very good mappers you guys can recommend for me? I don't mind travelling if it means getting the right person with the right experience and knowledge of these cars?

Thank you.
Chris.

Amd? Really? I've not read many good reports on here. Mrc are without a shadow of a doubt the berries and worth the run down. I used to travel from Glasgow to use them

Tbh I haven't used them but a friend of mine has with his RS and was very happy.
Like you said & probably 10/10 will agree MRC are no1

Another vote for MRC, see my carbon clean thread!

AMD fitted the coilovers on my car and clutch (before I owned it.) They left the coilovers on different damper settings all round, and didn't properly torque up subframe bolts. In the past I had a milltek exhaust fitted by them on a golf Gti, badly...would touch the underbody of the car once warm. Ended up driving up to the milltek factory where they sorted it.

Another vote for MRC.

After they fitted a Milltek exhaust and did a Stage 2 map (worth watching your car on the rollers while they tune the map) I went from smiling a lot while driving my RS4 to smiling insanely most of the time while driving it :biggrin3:

I've had a terrible experience with AMD, I'll sum it up like this, they rushed putting my car back together and loads of stuff was loose, told me my turbos both needed changing (they're fine), the map they put on the car was a really really sh*t generic map (boost up and down like a yoyo, really poor low end power). Oh, they changed my cambelt and serpentine belts too, but didn't change the tentioner which failed shortly after and MRC put it right.

MRC are a bit on the expensive side, but their work is top notch, both physical workmanship and mapping. For basic servicing, brakes etc I do it all myself because I'm a bit OCD, for everything else I only go to MRC.

That said, Unit 20 also has a very good rep and is a lot closer to you.

I was thinking about going for a remap myself so good to read where we should be going, MRC.

Can you notice a big difference after a remap and can the standard clutch handle it ok?

Huge difference atfer remap. Not a big power gain though (NA engine already highly tuned)
I think you get maximum torque in first 3 gears, but the real difference is the throttle response in sport mode. It probably makes is no faster, or any more powerfull but it sure is a lot more fun. Feels like you have fitted a turbo and as soon as you touch the throttle it is on boost. Smiletastic.

Thanks Mike,

Sounds great. So the standard clutch is up for the job?

At the moment my car has a resonated catback non valved Milltek with standard map, no other performance mods. When I drive the car I can't notice any difference when I push the sport button, doesn't seem to make any difference. Should I be noticing difference?
