Mass air flow p0101 help!!!!

Post by Dannorton » Sun Jun 14, 2015 5:08 pm

Hi guys, engine management light and traction light came on this morning, I have Vag Com so plugged it in and got p0101 error. I only know how to use the basics in Vag Com so don't know how to look further into it!
I'm just wondering if any of you guys have come across this error and if it is the maf and not something else before I go and spend £100 on a new one!

Cheers! This is what I got below!

Yeah, that's going to take a new MAF sensor. Easy 2 minute fix, and pretty cheap as far as RS faults go.

You could clear DCT's first to see if it comes back 10 min job

If you change the MAF sensor they recommend changing the main air filter, unless you know it to be good that is ie contaminants could have come through the air filter

Yes I've tried cleaning it with maf cleaner and still no joy, also the code comes back as soon as the car fires up!

I know it's not always what vag coms says and can be other sensors causing the problem!
I'll get a new maf sorted in then morning then cheers guys!

Bit of an old thread revival.

I had this fairly recently, well March. I was expecting to need to fork out for a new one but I tried cleaning the MAF sensor with alcohol spray as I didn't have much to loose. Gave it a thorough soaking, blasted with compressed air then another soaking. Left it inside to dry overnight (probably don't need that long as the alcohol evaporates very quickly).

Plugged back in & cleared the fault. Touch wood not come back. A few ignition cycles might clear it too if you don't have VCDS?

No matter what I do the problem keeps coming back, cleaning the maf doesnt fix it. Replacing it fixes the issue straight away, but it keeps happening on mine. Not sure what to do.
