Wheel refurb....

Post by markwm » Sat May 02, 2015 9:54 am

Had my wheels powder coated, kinda wishing I hadn't to be honest....noticed when I bought it home one section of one wheel in particular looks awful to my eyes, first pic, where the spokes meet the centre...I'm not being unreasonable am I? Been told they'll re do it but I think i prefer paint.

Of course no one else will notice the imperfections but I know the feeling.

They're not too bad - I've had wheels returned to me in a terrible state after poorly done powder coating. I was lured in by the one day turn around, and ended up getting all four wheels done twice before I accepted them.

If you're in the north east of england I can't praise SEM Sunderland highly enough. They take a few days but they'll lend you a set so you can keep motoring.

Yes that it a tad shabby I have to say. Take them back, get them to do it again until they're as they should be.

Looks as though the previous coat was not dry enough before the next coat was applied and that causes the rippling/pitted effect.

Who did you use? Was it a mobile service?

Yup, i'd send them back - looks like they have either rushed them, or there was some kind of silicone reaction... Either way its pretty poor workmanship...
