Battery recommendations

Morning all,

Had a feeling my battery was on its way out after a lack of start up power and then having to jump start it the other morning. This morning again it was totally flat.

Can anyone recommend me a battery for it?

Thanks

OEM Audi battery is manufactured by Varta, their equivalent model is the Silver Dynamic 610 402 092.

I think that I got mine from Amazon for about £95, if I remember correctly.

Thank you. I will have a search now. I was looking at a Varta battery anyway... http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.vi ... 0570279511

No problem, nice little saving there over the eBay one

Defiantly cheers. It's gone up on Amazon also to £135 now.

I see what you mean. Mine came from the Battery Megastore via an Amazon listing, just checked their own webside and it is £95 inc delivery. Just goes to show that you have to shop around. They're hefty buggers to lift in and out, so if you have a 'glass back' be careful.

I have the same battery now as above. With a new starter motor a month or so ago, it starts amazingly well!

That's good to know. Mine needs some more power on start up. Currently it has a piddly battery fitted, no wonder it's had it.

I bought a Varta H15 AGM battery online from Puredrive http://www.puredrivebatteries.co.uk/h15 ... ttery.html which is the same size but has higher capacity (105Ah) and high cold starting current (950A), yes it's a few more pennies but it's a beast of a battery.

At face value it seems quite a bit more expensive and slightly inferior to the one linked earlier Dave, it does have the same 950 CCA which is what you need at this time of year.

Having checked both links above I can't agree that it's inferior; yes it's only 105Ah vs. 110Ah, but the CCA is 950A vs. 920A and as an AGM battery it is better able to cope with repeated heavy loads http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/arti ... ss_mat_agm

Great service from Tayna batteries. The new Varta has done the trick.

Old vs. new

Thanks for the link Dave, had a feeling there maybe more to it than face value specs. That site has a lot of info there to try and take onboard, so now bookmarked.

Good job Divine

The old one looks tiny, so quite possibly under rated as well.
