Miss my RS4 so much!

Hi all, back to this forum after just over two years. I sold my RS4 B7 and it was the biggest mistake of my motoring history! Looking back, it was simply the best car I've ever owned. I want to buy another one and see that prices are actually going up now.

Really kicking myself now. But, I still want to get another one.

You might want to edit the title, but on the other had on being a reasonably new owner I can feel your pain, I love my car and right now there is no other car I would want right now. :kissmyrings:

I haven't kept track of prices. Are we pretty much at the bottom of the depreciation curve now?

I plan to sell mine in the spring if you can wait that long.

[edited to put the word 'sell' in the last sentence. Perhaps my subconscious doesn't want me to do it? :bash: ]

I traded in my mint RS4 for £18K two years ago. FSH with Milltek, MRC stage 2, etc. Totally mint. The dealer I traded it into showed that someone was buying it for £21K.

Two years later as I scan prices for a similar car, they are now showing as £21K to £25K. Hence, no depreciation in two years! In fact, a slight rise in prices.

I really need my head examined. I have no idea why I got rid of the RS4 as it ticked every single box imaginable. And being an Avant, the huge load area was used extensively during my house refurbishment to load stacks of tiles and things like that.

Sadly, I can't afford to buy just yet but will be saving like mad to get a decent RS4 again.

I think I would feel the same. Quite honestly the best car I have ever owned and like you say it ticks so many boxes. I have an Avant and comes in very handy with the house renovation!

Reading this with interest as I felt the same, I went from the RS4 to a BMW E90 M3, then decided to play it sensible for a while and moved to a B8 S4 which only lasted 11 months.

I looked at the B7 RS4's again but they seemed very dated inside, the M3 and S4 were years ahead in terms of technology so I decided not to go back to the RS4, I would have gone to a B8 RS4 but that was too similar to the S4 I already had.

After looking at many cars I decided to tick one box I haven't ticked and bought a 14 plate C63 AMG, now this car does feel special!!

Yeah, I think I'll be moving to a c63 at some point, albeit an older one unless prices drop fast which is unlikely :)

Will have to learn to drive again though, been a bit spoilt with quattro!

I also was a whisker away from selling to get back in something like a 500/600 bhp Evo or along them lines but every time I got that bit closer to doing something about it I bottled it :drink:

I have only owned 6 months but spent a fair amount of time and money in that time.

I have always had a desire to mod my cars but when I started to get to a point where I was running out of things to do I start looking again!!!

I have found new love for it again lately and am planning CAIK, Devil Own Methonal kit, H&R lowering/firming springs, firmware update ect...

These little things mean a lot and keeps interest in the car.

You guys who own these cars have an undoubtedly good taste in a car that requires a very special car to step in to its shoes to replace with!

I agree C63 is a stunning amazing bit of kit but personally I think it's no more of a side step or at a push a step down as I ve been in a couple and did not get out with that amazeballs factor.

Step down, I couldn't disagree more!!!

RS4 is a very nice and capable motor indeed but it's not comparable to a C63 on all angles.

Had mine about 18 months now and like the car just as much as I did then. It's a saloon mind but still as practical as can be. I have thought 100s of times about trading it in. I would love to be able to fettle with it a bit more though. I had toyed with the idea of supercharging bit can't justify over 15k or more. I have put a deposit down on a 911 turbo instead. The original plan was to trade in the rs4 but just couldn't bring myself to do it. It's got 63k on the clock and is in pretty good nick so may have got a fair deal on trade in. Looks like I need to find another garage...

I spend Monday to Friday pondering selling up for the last few years, then I get home and drive it and all my plans go out the window! It's sounds awesome and just so capable in all conditions I just can't fault it! I'm coming up to 6 years ownership in a few months! I used to change motors every 6 months!
