Anyone gone to / tried a C63 AMG?

Post by EddyPee » Wed Oct 22, 2014 1:56 pm

Not really looking to change the RS4, ticks all the boxes but I saw a dude come in to work earlier selling a 13 plate C63 AMG with 35k on the clock for 22k and it made me think.

I think its a noise thing, which im sure I could achieve with an exhaust upgrade, but is a 2013 C63 AMG a better package that what I have now?

Anyone made the switch or got any thoughts, comparisons?

have a look in the adversaries section on the forum, there are a few members who have made the switch. I have been thinking about it too after my mate just got a new White coupe with 600 miles on the clock. Makes my RS seem quite dated and the noise is special.

did an hour at Brooklins Mercedes great fun and surprisingly sure footed in the wet circle and almost pulled the trigger to order one before i got my currant B8 what made me stop is the winter up in Jocklandshire the car would be effectively off the road for about 4-5 months of the year but great theater and noise but was still happy getting back into my B7 ans blasting it up the road in the wet

I had a C63 only yesterday when the Smart Car was in for a recall - admittedly not an AMG but my God the interior was like a Bangkok watch Shop - hideous!

The sound is bloody epic, but for me they look pretty ordinary and have far less road presence than the RS4 :D

mmmh 2013 C63 AMG at £22k. What comes to my mind at that price is a bit of T Cut on this .. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPl59S0HpvI

Yes totally agree with that :-) but at 22k that must be half the price of one right? unless I am mistaken. Three of my friends have them and swear by them, just at 22k there has to be something not right with it

That sounds far too cheap. I tested a '10 plate C63 two years ago before I got my B7 RS4 and it turned out to be a classic example of never meet your heros as you'll only end up disappointed in them. I really couldn't get away with the semi-auto 'box as it was unbelievably slow, and the interior was also crap (although I think that about all merc's). The 2012-onwards models I think got a new wet clutch which is apparently much quicker, so that shouldn't be an issue, and then there's that sound...THAT SOUND!

Yep that sound is just epic, the guys I know have the later ones, they were all with us on this years le mans trip and them hooning by was a amazing sound :-) not that my non res, 100 cell cats didnt keep up (sound wise, it was pre CC so power was way down on mine... next year is another story )

I have to agree 22k is far too cheap, must be hiding something.

My daily is a CLS63 and it's an awesome car. The engine is the new 5.5l Biturbo unit which is nothing short of amazing. The car goes, sounds and drives brilliantly. Starting it from cold in the morning still makes me smile, what a meaty sound to be greeted by. The low down grunt and acceleration should be experienced by all :)

For an A to B blast on a twisty country road, I still reach for the RS4 keys. The Merc can't touch it for grip and its ability to despatch any corner with ease.

These are 2 cars with different traits, depends what you want. You have to try the C63...
New RS6 PE ordered in Nogaro...it's a long wait!
