Does anyone use a car cover?
Does anyone use a car cover?
Got a large site, an old tip that they are clearing for housing a few hundred yards from my house that creates so much dust it's driving me nuts. Basically I would need to wash my car daily, maybe twice to keep it clean. I literally gathers dust as it's getting done. I use the car maybe once or twice a week so it's normally filthy when I take it out and that annoys me. This is going to be going on for 2 fkn years till it's cleared. The process of rain/dust/sun/dust/rain/dust and so on means I get home from work after a month away i have what looks like a car shaped lump of dust on the drive.
So point is are there any car covers anyone uses or would recommend, or adversely not recommend or not use for any reason?
Cheers

Re: Does anyone use a car cover?
I've covered an M3 track car of mine previously and personally wouldn't bother again as it causes damage to the paintwork in medium to strong winds.

I bought one and used it once. The bottom part was elasticated and the material it was made from was pretty unforgiving on paintwork when gusts of wind caused the elasticated part to ride up the car. It also just didn't fit very well - so much so that I wondered just how much bigger the body of the RS4 is than the normal A4!
That said, I'm sure there must be some which aren't dreadful, but I've been put off so like Sam won't bother again.

Out door covers are toss , the cars sweet and no matter what you do they rub the paint somewhere . Until I extended th garage fifth the cars I used an outdoor carcoon for a few years and the car came out perfect year after year

Had a look at the carcoon, apart from looking like the Martians have landed in the drive it maybe the way to go. You honestly have no idea of the dust created by this place. I presume the outer skin has to be inflated, does this need to be done constantly?

Constantly? From the car or a supplied PSU?John Johnson wrote:12v powers the fans

Re: Does anyone use a car cover?
Also a parambulator garage is good although expensive.
I used an outdoor cover from specialised car covers and it fit perfectly with virtually no rubbing. The inside is a soft velvet type material so is kind to paintwork.
That being said there are restrictions... If the car is dirty going into the cover then the dirt will run on the paintwork. Really not great either if the car is soaking wet.
Might be worth goin for a couple layers of decent polish then at least it should rinse off

Re: Does anyone use a car cover?
I bought a fitted cover from Hamilton Classic a few years ago and thought it was brilliant, had it to cover my Nissan Silvia whilst it was off the road in the winter months.
Just been on the website and they say that Chris Evans uses them for his fleet of Ferraries whilst they are on tour so if they are good enough for him then surely they can't be too bad.

Re: Does anyone use a car cover?
It comes with a converter and trickle charger so I run a cable down the garage and plugged it in .

+1 on specialised covers - used the storm version and it is, restrictions as Ad's mentions aside, very good...adsgreen wrote:Also a parambulator garage is good although expensive.
