So the new RS3 and RS4 would be introduced in IAA Frankfurt this coming September ?

If so, these are naughty little secretive guys

Protecting the sales of the RS6 by delaying as much as possible the announcement of the RS4's new version ?

Doesn't actually say this September - also it will be the S3 they release first, not the RS3 ?

Since the autocar article which appeared in the last couple of weeks suggested that with the appearance of an RS3 the S3 will not be prodcued, and seeing how the tactic of delaying the release of the 'R' designated cars until near the end of the production run to maximise the potential profits the S model will bring, I can't quite see the new RS4 arriving until 2005/2006 somehow.
Current: B7 RS4 Avant in Sprint
and 3.00 TDi Allroad (AMD Chipped to 280BHP but don't tell my wife!)
Previously:
2 x B5 RS4's in various states of tune from standard (no.93 out of the factory) to 480 BHP and 1 x early B7 RS4

I agree. Releasing an RS model before sales of the S model have been fully realised would be crazy. However leaking news of future models is great to keep Audi customers away from the competition.

Don't forget that the S4 was originally supposed to be release in the UK at the end of 2002. Then it was Spring 2003. It's still not here, so there's every reason to believe that the RS4 is not due until 2004 at the earliest.

Hi guys, I think the new rs4 will have too less power, it'll be the same acceleration as the old rs4! (Boring!!!!)

A normally asperated RS4 is highly unlikely. Audi has pretty much declared their strategy recently ;

All S models get largest normaly aspirated engine, whilst all RS models wil get turbo-charged engines (twin turbos at that).

Take the latest S4 as an example, everyone wanted it to be a turbo car again, but it is powered by the normally aspirated 4.2 v8. Same situation with the S3, which will be a normally aspirated 3.2 v6.

Maybe they will use a highly tuned version of the 3.2 V6 twin turbo ??? Doubtful, but it has the potential to produce 420 BHP easily ?

I think the fact that it's not OBVIOUS what engine Audi will use in the RS4 must indicate that it must still be some time away...

Audi Sweden registered all domains from S3 to S8 and RS6 -
but not RS4! Should that indicate that there will be no new RS4 or what?

There is more to an RS4 than just horsepower. It is Audi's demonstration that they can make something special. Of course the performance is great but its that low road hugging look that makes the RS4 so special and what makes the S4 or even the RS6 look like just another estate car. I won't buy another RS4 unless it has the same special body enhancements.

Oh, and please Audi, can we have a V6 and NOT a V8.
Standard RS4 (is it the only standard one left?)
