Missano Red new owner

Post by davebirl » Fri Aug 15, 2014 12:40 pm

So I've had a few Corrado and S3's down through the years not to mention many diesels, both VW and Audi.

Always wanted an RS4 Avant but I found this low mileage Saloon back in December last and it was just too clean for me to ignore.

It had all the options I wanted, SatNav, blue tooth phone, ipod dock and phone prep in the armrest so I can charge my iphone 5s and the comfort seats which only a few seem to like.
I have a big frame so they bucket seats are just way too tight for me.

The car is entirely standard with original DRC, it only had 24k on it when I bought it along with full Audi Service History.
Audi Belfast give it a full service along with new plugs and brake fluid when I bought it. It passed the MOT in the north and 3 days later passed the Irish NCT test without any issues.

Last week the dreaded vibration from the front discs started and after much research I decided to have the discs skimmed. Got them done yesterday and were like new when returned to me.
Fitted them last night and its perfect again. There is loads left on the discs so it would have been a shame to throw them away.
All the engineering company charged was 30 euro for both discs, so that's about 20 sterling.
Bargain when I was planning on going to Phaeton discs instead.

Here are a few photos from last weekend at an Irish VAG event.

First thing I did was replace the sad multi function wheel with one from an RS6. I managed to get a brand new one and just removed the paddles. Totally transforms the interior.

Also got a set of the logo mats but I think they are a bit glaring for daily use. Its not like there isn't enough RS4 logos on the car already.

Next I want to plasti dip the badges black to match in with the black optics pack that's already there.

I am also considering the "quattro" logos in black at the bottom of the rear doors? I've seen it on a few of the newer S and RS models and think it might look pretty good in black on a red car.

FON

Another Irish RS4. Looks great mate, nice colour on her and can’t beat the lack of miles on her!

Hi Dave, welcome and congrats on a great looking car :D

Just a quick point about the brake judder. Depending on the cause, the disc skim may not cure the problem for good. I and many others have had it gradually creep back in. I've still not got to the definitive root cause of mine but the most common cause for most seems to be transfer of pad material onto the discs due to underusing the brakes. So my advice post skim would be to make sure you routinely use the brakes hard and avoid riding the brakes at all costs, particularly at junctions/red light etc. If in doubt there are endless threads/posts on here about this issue!

Good luck...

Lovely looking car, comfort seats are great, very easy to live with if you use the car as a daily.

Like the new wheel!

Like it in red!

Previous owner has fitted a TTS/TTRS/R8 steering wheel. You probably have now a "S" bottom at your dash.

Thanks, I am keeping an eye on the discs alright. A buddy of mine has an RS4 too and his had the same issue just a few months ago. I do think I under use the brakes alright. If they go again I will just fit the Phaeton discs for an easier life.

I fitted the wheel, its from an RS6 and I swapped in my RS4 badge before fitting also. I sold on my MFSW to an A4 owner.

C6 wheel? Looks nice and fat. That's the one to get. I love the look of the rs4 fbsw but can't give up phone and radio control.
