well my drc bit the dust for the third time, this time due to rotten pipes. the shockers were fine no misting or leaks but ive had enough and decided to ditch the drc and upgrade to coilovers.
i was originally going to be sensible and get the kwv3's but i just couldn't resist the lure of the psi ttx36 ohlins
big thanks to dan at 034motorsports for sorting these out for me.
almost to pretty to put on the car!
my car was off the road for about a month while i waited for these to be made shipped and fitted, so to say i was eager to get in the drivers seat was an understatement!.
first impressions are they are sublime! they give up nothing in ride quality and comfort over my previous ss+ set up yet the car feels much more settled and planted. they are every bit as good as i hoped they would be.
what ride height are people with coilovers running on here?, for the moment i have left it on 25.5 inch ground to wheel arch all round looks ok and handles speed bumps fine.

Nice one sar. Photos on the car please!
What you gonna do about servicing? You sending them back to the US or not gonna bother?
I see these as the ultimate B7 set - up but put off by high price in the UK and no UK servicing.

So rear springs are fitted on coilovers, not separately as for stock/KW v3 setup?
Or this one are used?

Very nice!! Definitely NSFW!
Out of morbid curiosity how much roughly are we talking for a kit like this?

ill get some pics taken, not had time yet.
as for servicing you can get them done in the uk at any ohlins dealer, performance shock recommend every 30,000km for regular street use. on the old stasis ohlins set up it was recomended to service every 20,000km but plenty of people have ran them a lot longer than that with no problems. the ttx 36 damper performance shock use is meant to be more robust than the one stasis used to use so hopefully i wont be rebuilding for quite some time.

no the rear springs are separate like stock, its the same set up in the link.

that link is for the 3-way adjustable kit, mine are just the 2-way. i can have them upgraded here in the uk to 3-way for £150 a shock or 4-way for £300 a shock.
but yes everything needed for install is included in the kit.
the only extra i bought was new 034motorsport density line strut top mount rubbers.
the wet on the pics is where i have sprayed them with a good coating of boeshield t-9, the boeshild seemed popular with people in the states for protecting the shocks against general road nasty.

Worth checking the floor to ground measurement too - I always find it best to have a small amount of front rake
(best to put some ballast in the front seats too when checking).
It (mighty) looks fine from the pictures though.
I have always gone Ohlins when fitting after market suspension. Simply stunning.
If you do decide on it, the 4 way kits are incredible (no experience on the RS4 sadly)

Being in Toronto... I have to deal with salt on the roads in the winter... I had a purpose built rally car with high end DMS shocks that I made the mistake of using one winter as a daily driver... and it totally ruined the shocks in one winter...
Otherwise... this would be my shock / setup of choice when the DRC fails...
