Hi guys
Is it possible to remove the valves and then refit them?
I want to get my wheels powder coated so wondered if you can reuse valves.

Assume you're talking about the TPMS?

When I had my rims refurbed the guys removed and refitted the valves with no problems and the TPMS worked fine afterwards.

totally depends on condition of the stems , i had both sets of mine done and i think 3 out of the 8 had to be replaced as the threads came off as the nut is being removed so ...i would get a couple spare in case , the TPMS bit is separate and is bolted on to the valve so not that expensive , a tenner each i think they were , remember to reset the TPMS in the DIS as you may well get them mixed up and the new pressure settings on reassembly be different as well

just check the rubber and make sure that portion is in good condition, if it is go ahead and reuse them

£7? When I bought my car the previous owner had bought 3, (yes, for some reason 3) new ones from audi and I'm sure they were £30 a pop. I'll look out the receipt just to check.

Hi guys

I had my rear tyres changed recently. The TPMS sensors are apparently no longer working, and also the thread on at least one wheel is a little worn... this makes getting a sensible reading at the service station very difficult as the airgun won't fit over the stem properly... it's more often the case that more air comes out than goes in! I'm not bothered about keeping the TPMS system - I prefer to check my tyres regularly anyway.

Basically I think I need some new stems or valves, anyone know what my options are here, eg:

1) Can buy stems seperately from TPMS?
2) Have to buy TPMS as part of whole fitting?

Some idea of costs would be much appreciated too.

Many thanks

you can buy the stems on their own. not at all expensive - £8 a valve stem i think ? have a look on stoke audi parts website - I bought some from them previously

or if you look back on a previous post on here there is a chap in Poland selling sensors AND stems for a pretty decent price on ebay if you want to change the whole lot in one go.
