Milltek exhausts

Resonated or non resonated?
I want to fit a milltek but undecided.
I want it to sound like a meaty v8!
Is the non res too much?
Would get it with valves to tone it down when on motorway or does it still boom?
Thanks
Simon

Non resonated with valves was perfect for me, good for all and still wakes up the neighbours !!

depends on how much your prepared to put up with the noise inside the car , capristo weldfabs , jhm and custom exhausts will all sound great outside the car as do miltek , some deeper than other some raspy (capristo from what ive heard ) i have a res valved miltek with 100 cel cats and it sounds great , but has drone from 1700 ish to 2000 rpm , which isn't much but can still annoy the s...t out of me sometimes , my mates one with the non res valved and 100 cell cats and much much more boomy inside
all the videos on utube will not really do justice as it depends on what it was recorded on so unless you hear them in the flesh its a tough one

Mine is an EbWerks 200 cell no center box with x pipe 2.75 no valves .
Tbh when I started it I was shocked at the noise. It is loud but 8 have cold start which I need mapping out. When it's warm it's fine. There's no need to shout or get a headache after 30 mins of driving.
You could quite happily take granny out for the day in it.
But boot it and all hell breaks loose.
Personally if you anni the sound of a milltek just take the centre boxes out and save yourself a grand as that's the only difference.

I must admit I have a Milltek non res non valved and i do love it over the standard set up but if i was to start afresh again, that set up Rick has would be going on I think. the non res is pretty drony to be fair around 2k revs but it isn't bad at all on normal motorway driving etc, certainly turns some heads

^ that
I really don't think Milltek are worth the money on our cars. When people say they like the sound of a milltek I think they often mean they like the sound of an un-resonated RS4. You can get that for £150.
Out of interest how does full ebwerks or jc weldfab compare cost wise with a Milltek?
Btw I'm talking catback here. Downpipes slightly different matter, but again, £1500 on a pair of off-the-shelf sports cat downpipes isn't great bang for buck.

Isnt there a way getting the original exhaust to sound more? Other than permanently opening the flaps?

I would also avoid Milltek if you can. The quality of their exhausts really isn't want it use to be. EBWerks is a great option for sound and performance or the JHM kit also very good for performance but IMO doesnt sound quite as good as the EBW. If you have the coin the MTM (what I have) is also fantastic. Its 2.75" with valves although its a bit quiet.

I bought my exhaust at the same time as Rob cecilthesausage and we got an awesome price on import fees.
I've not heard the jhm in person or the mtm but I'm loving mine.
