Post Carbon Clean -- Things to do ?

Post by sckrs4 » Wed Apr 23, 2014 3:03 pm

Guys,

Had my RS4 carbon cleaned at 78K miles and what a difference. I don’t think it was ever been cleaned since buying from Audi. Read up some threads on Carbon build up and for 3 years I've been complaining to Camberley Audi, but each time they just kept avoiding it, just seen some dealerships have done the cleaning under warranty..

Seen most of the threads on carbon build up issue and looks like we got to live with it. Just wanted to get some advice on what things could be done going forward to reduce it?

G 001 770 A2 (90ml) Additive can? Should this be added?
Shell V-Power Nitro+
Mobil 1 or Castrol EDGE (SLX III)

Cheers

You can try and limit it by revving to 7000 at least once a day.

I'm of the view that water meth injection will help.

Doug at MRC told me to rev it hard in 3rd as often as possible to help avoid build up. You'll see the puffs of black smoke out the pipes when you do this and your nice clean tailpipes will go black ha

I used to boot my B7 Saloon all the time. But still had it cleaned three time in 7 years.

Covkiller, Was the build up each time quite bad, or would you say once every 3-4 years is sufficient?

@JamesBaby The first one was really bad but after that not too bad.
MRC got 448bhp after first clean (this was with flaps), which dropped to about 420bhp and then back up to 448bhp after cleaning.
I had my flaps deleted as they were faulting on an MRC Dyno day. Also cat bypass and non res Milltek. No cold air feed as I liked my double radiators.
I wish I never sold it, as it was savage.
The best car God ever made.
