Thanks for the advice I got on here. I have now ordered 20 x 10.5 J Vossen CV7's to go on the RS4. Gone for ET 42 with a 265/30/20 tyre.
It'll be off to have all the suspension fitted and the bodyshop to sort any arch clearance problems around Easter. Can't wait till it's done. I'll be grinning like a Cheshire Cat

10.5's with 265's?!! I think you'll be needing bodywork mods more than suspension!!!
Even more so, with an ET of 45, they'll foul the struts, with 20mm spacers they'll foul the arches, especially running 265's!!
My 19x9.5's nearly touch with 235's!!!

looks like they fit, found this on google, not sure on offset or arch mods etc,
i tried some 10.5s on mine and there was n way on the front unless they stuck out and it was close on the back,
hope you dont have a fat missus or inlaws or you gonna scrub.

looks great tho

They fit ok, but there's no telling how much work they've taken plus there's no way 265's will fit in that arch gap!

That's exactly what I was looking at Rick. I'm sure there will have to be quite a bit of work done but I have a place that builds race cars doing all the work and he reckons it'll be fine. They make custom hub centric spacers in their workshop.
There's a suspension manufacturer just down the road and they can ask for custom setups.
Fingers crossed it'll work. Hopefully the boundaries will be pushed.

265s will be stretched (can you change it to 275?
ET42 may not even fit, necessitating spacers. Not sure how concave those wheels are but you may have caliper clearance problems. Why pay thousands of your pounds on custom wheels when you then have to add a set of spacers to make them work?
I reckon 275.30.20 + 10.5 ET 30-35 and you will want to have your fenders rolled. That's a guess though. I would ask the half a dozen or so guys with 10.5 wheels what they did to make it work.
10.5 et42 = 1.5" wider than stock = 38 mm wider than stock = 19mm inside and outside width...but 13mm less interior mounting offset, therefore it's like running stock wheels with 6mm spacers. As we know 10-12mm rear spacers on stock and 8 mm front looks excellent on stock wheels...so you'll still be a few mm away from that look. Again however, all of this depends on the wheel design allowing the wheel to clear the calipers. 42mm offset means the face of the wheel is about 13mm closer to your hub (and brake calipers) than stock , all else being equal. Your extra 1.5" width should help but it's not certain. I'm sure the wheel
Shop you bought from did a template analysis...

Sakimano. The
Shop did advise 10j wide in 45 offset as that's what they have done before. I spoke to the place that will be doing it and they said go with the 42 offset. I know I will have to run spacers as the
Shop said I would have to run 20mm spacers with the 10j wheels.
I appreciate the feedback and the information I am hoping that people will share will assist for when I get it done mid April

my 20 x 9.5 with 255/30 and 265/30 and they rubbed on the back under compression, they slowly ate the wheel arch liner away!.
i think you are going to have your work cut out, i think the fronts might be doable if you roll your arch, but you cant roll the rear arch and i cant see anyway you could make any more room.
i was never happy running 255's on my 9.5's. 10.5's really should be 275.
in the end i went back to the standard 19's, feels so much better.

Wowzers !!
Hats off to you dude, thats a pretty extreme set of rims for one of these.
The width and offsets you mentioned mean before spacers you have got your inner rim 32mm closer to the uprights, which I think is probably 10mm too close, but as said, you are also making your caliper get closer to a straighter spoke, even with 20mm spacers which will perhaps give you 10mm clearance on the inner edge, you may find those flat diagonal spokes hitting the caliper, as you will effectively be net 6mm worse off and the standard rims have a more curved look to them on the outer edge specifically to clear these big ole calipers, I think ultimately you are gonna be looking at having added somewhere close to 30mm to the outer edge of your current wheel by the time you have cleared the caliper and that most deifnately will need more than a light roll on the arches, I think you will need a significant pull, unless you run maybe 2.0deg extra camber, which with the 265's small stretch compared to 255's on a 9j should mean a 10-15mm saving which would bring you right back to the 12mm max spacer ballpark most here have found is just about bearable if you dont go too low, but dont forget you will then have used up all the space you had gained on your inner edges with the uprights, so I think you are possibly gonna be that quarter of an inch too far, but good luck with it, its definitely baller spec !!!!
Hope the above made sense - for reference, on our stock tyre size, a 1deg tilt means approx 5mm shift at the outer edge.

i was looking in to these wheels a few weeks ago. but i was gonna go for 20x9 front 20x10.5 rear offsets of 25 and 30 so no spacers needed. thats the set up on the black rs4. then sort rolling radious out with the tyre size. just i use thexcar every day and thought wheels i little to xtreme for eveyday driving
cant wait to see them on. what have you got avant or saloon?

oem is 29 ET and 9"
you are using 42 and 10.5?
the new wheel will extend outwards ~ -(42-29) + (10.5-9) * 25.4 / 2 ~ 6 mm, should be fine
inside clearance will be 13 + 19 or 31 mm deeper, most likely will hit the suspension
