Hey guys, just installed 8mm h&r spacers all round, and took it out for a drive. From about 50km/h and up, I start getting vibrations which never existed previously.

Now, I have a suspicion the wheels were not properly centered as my new extended bolts have a taper which is not the same as the oem bolt. The angle of the taper on the new extended bolt is more than the oem.

Could this be my problem?

Are they hub centric? You need round bottom bolts not tapered, make sure you wire brush the surfaces as they can have a rust build up, it's a common problem the vibration

Are they the larger diameter ones or the smaller ones?

Yea, they are hubcentric. 8mm h&r.

they are not right, they need a lip for the centre of the wheel to locate onto,

like the top ones in this pic



when you tighten the first bolt especially as you have tapered nuts it will have pulled it over to one side making the wheel not centred and then vibrate

Hub centric spacers have a lip for the wheel to sit onto, which also takes the static load off of the bolts.

Take those spacers off straight away, and get some proper hub-centric ones (e.g. from Virdee).

I had similar ones as daytonaRS and had the same problem at the front axle. Removed them and no vibration.

I think spacers with lip are at least 10-11mm.

Thanks guys, needless to say I'm livid! I clearly specified to the guy that I ordered from that they must be hubcentric!
Now to see if he will replace them as i have already installed all 4...

The 8mm ones you had look to have no lip either Rick?

I've got some 8s same as the ones at the bottom in the above pic to go on up front which I haven't fitted yet but after reading this I'm having doubts.

the ones on the right in my pic were 6mm with no lip you need

2x10mm H&R part number 2055571 (rear)
2x8mm H&R part number 1655572 (front)

Cheers, will try and exchange the ones I've got.

Just spoke to the guy that I bought my fronts off and he's insisting that the ones without a hub lip are recommended for use by H+R on the B7 RS4 and there should be enough of the hub sticking through to locate the wheel on, will have a look later.

He said that the 1655572 kit is for an Audi A3.

Presume you had yours fitted without any issues Rick? If there's not much room for the wheel to locate on when I check later I'll go with the ones you recommended too.

i originally had 6mm non hubcentric on and they wobbled at speed, the wheel didnt mount to the hub, not enough hub stuck out and the wheel is tapered and not 57.1 all the way to the edge, if it was it would be ok, but then i bought the 8mm ones which were hubcentric and it was fine

the 2 part numbers i gave were totally fine for my car no issues
