BTW the only Audi versions of the 2010+ RNS-E are for the A3, TT and R8 (there is a SEAT version if you don't mind having a front panel that says SEAT in your RS4 :FIREdevil: ). The R8 version is no good as the control layout is very different and an A4 front panel won't fit - hence why you need an A3 or TT version for you to swap the front panel (or one where someone else has already swapped the front panel to an A4 one).
Do you know where I can source the Seat model ? I've been searching flea bay and other parts stores online without any luck :(

The only place I've ever seen them is fleaBay, but they are as rare as hens teeth (they're only fitted to the Exeo) - which is why most people go the A3/TT route and swap their existing front panel.

Best bet is to look on eBay for a 2010+ RNS-E that has already had the faceplate swap done (look for the MEDIA button), like:

thanks Petrol Dave and neilparf !

@neilparf, when you receive the headunit, does it come with the security code card and other bits ? What did you get from the package when it arrive ?

also I'm a bit worried where the headunit comes from, since they are all marked as used and we know it's impossible to have so many cars swapping out, do you know if it's just because it's been modified that they have to mark it as used ??

Yes - when you receive the head unit, these come with a German audi security code card and serial number, a hybrid DVD of the maps and speed cameras for 2014 and spare gps antennae just in case.

They are in fact 2 rnse's from these guys - A3 post 2010 internals to give you the CPU speed and latest display etc and a pre 2010 Rs4 to give the facia, faceplate and bezel etc. and all works perfectly. So they are hybrid in a way but yes the two units are used...

Quite a few have purchased these rnse upgrades with no issue...

Good luck...

Audi send units removed under warranty to be fully refurbished, AFAIK that's the source of most of the units - and as they're refurbished they have to be sold as used.

RNS-E AMI Upgrade

Am very interested in the answer to the above post. Also, near the start of this thread it was asked about the changing of the knobs from black to silver 2010+ ones. Was it not worth answering as they just pop off? I used 'some' force to lever them off but didn't wanna go to far as I don't know how they are attached.

I don't know of anyone who has managed to get that to work on the B6/B7, the best guess I've heard is that it's for the same reason that speed limits don't show when the 2010+ RNS-E is fitted into a B6/B7 - which is that the CAN Gateway function (which is integral to the instrument cluster on the B6/B7) doesn't pass some of the necessary messages onto the Infotainment CAN bus.

IIRC craigyb got some of these functions working on an A2 by fitting an A3 CAN Gateway in parallel with the instrument cluster, but I can't remember if that included the Advanced Parking.
