Irn_bru_ce - I fitted this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-A4-S4-RS ... 3f1ecaee1a

With VCDS and the correct RNSe Keys form Ebay (item # 281330963594) was very easy. Sat Nav Deals actually do the switch out of the relevant parts to make the 2010+ work in a Rs4 - A3 inner to give you a later 2010 processor with an Rs4 fascia. Comes with a 'radio code' and with VCDS and this thread, dead easy...

The same money too and they switched the chrome nobs for the RS4 matt black knobs to keep it a totally OEM appearance. 1yr + on and no issues...

The fascia they use was totally blemish free - it was like new.
Gone but never forgotten:
2007 RS4 B7 Saloon, Metallic Silver with SS+.
LED's all round and Dectane LED tailights. KDS detail and paint. Lepsons black chrome, heavy on the silver wheels. JCWeldFab full system - valved and no pre-cats. MRC stage 2, de-flap and full carbon clean - 438PS and 489NM. HEL brake lines. H&R Spacers. Gtechniq C1 and EXO V2 coatings. 2010+ RNS-E. On the MRC dyno: http://youtu.be/y_k0VJ2--y8

I'm looking to do this upgrade in the new year.

Current set up is RNS-E pre 2010 and CD changer in the glovebox. I've been using a Dension for ipod connection which has done the job for the last 4 years - but isn't perfect.

I'm planning on selling the RNS-E on ebay and buying the mk2 post 2010.

I see on ebay you can buy 2nd hand AMI for £100 however there's no mention of cables.

Can someone give me a link to which cable I would need to connect RNS-E to AMI. The previous link on page 4 of this thread isn't working any more.

Also, are there any other cable's required? (except required connection cable from ipod to AMI)

I know about changing face of 2010 RNS-E and will probably buy from eBay recommended in this thread so it comes with the conversion already done. Am I missing anything else?

Thanks. Ian.

I can't comment on the Kuftec cabling option, as I used Audi stuff when I did mine.

You need:
2010+ RNSe
CAN version of AMI
Cable - 8K0 051 592
Connector - 1J0 972 977 G
iPod and USB Adaptor set - 4F0 051 510 P
Re-code modules

You do have to re-pin the cable with the 32pin connector on one end and then splice the other into the wiring harness. The kuftec option, may or may not eliminate having to do all of that?

Thanks for the info Sam.

I thought there may have been just one cable without having to re-pin/splice etc.

Dave, can you let me know the German item number for the plug and play.

Many thanks. Ian.

Just about to push the button on this. I have the RNS-E 2010 and AMI and all wiring to fit.
Can someone confirm what the correct VCDS coding should be for the new set up - current code is 0309753.
I've been onto ross tech wiki pages so it's probably me just being thick!!

I have my 193 H model as 0309723 which was coded for Bluetooth, AMI & CD changer.

The loom was wired for both AMI & CD changer, as I had planned to run both together in a custom glove box but lost the urge to carry the idea through. It throws a fault code when one of them is not connected but it does allow me to change between CD Changer and AMI should there be a requirement to do so.

Pretty sure you change the second to last digit to '2' from memory. As long as you've got the current code written down you can revert back to it if there's a problem. Once the coding change has been accepted you'll need to reboot the RNSE by pressing and holding down 'setup' and 'radio'.

I have a 193 C model and have coding of 0309721 as I don't have the CD changer included.

The Ross-Tech wiki gives coding details http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.ph ... 28RNS-E%29 which shows the correct coding for AMI now.

Interestingly that shows an RS4 start up screen in channel 018.

Marc, isn't that because it is a generic RNS-E info page and not specific to the 2010+ model?

Yes.

There is no coding page specific to the 2010+ model.

Finally ordered the 8P0 AMI and the Shop is shipping next week.

Just wondering if anyone is keeping both CD stack and the AMI in the glove box, or just put the AMI there ?

With the CD stacker out, do I need to shield the CD stacker connector to avoid it picking up interference ?
