my car has been sorned for 3 months and after various winter jobs its back on the road for 1st march. however i think a new battery is due as had to jump start the car a few times and have charged it 2 weeks ago but it lost power again to the point that not even the interior lights up on door opening. ive crossed reference batterys and think i need an 019 or 019 agm. can anyone confirm what they bought if changed recently. thanks guys!!

Hello mate, I recently changed the battery in my 2007 b7 rs4,i also thought I needed a 019 but turned out the direct replacement was an 020. I went for the bosch silver s5, direct fit.

I bought one from Halfords as I thought the original was sluggish probably wrongly. It looked too small but was what they recommended and had a long guarantee it has been fine for several years was a Bosch.

Which battery?

019AGM or O20

See below page 41

Looks like it depends on electrical options

Bosh seems good with 5 year warranty.

Could anyone confirm?

Thx

That top of the range Varta battery is rated at 95ah and 850CCA. How does that comapre to the OEM battery? Mine is obviously getting old and only takes a short time with all my amps on to drain it (even on low or zero volume) so would like a new one that is a bit of a tough cookie.

ended up buying the bosch s5 020. bought it from euro car parts via ebay and collected from my nearest branch. £115 but would have been £135 if bought over the counter. 5 year warranty too. will change over at weekend. 8)

Hi mate,

The bosch was an absolutely perfect fit in my b7 rs4 avant, identical in size to the oem (which I think was a varta) that it replaced. Even the covers for the terminals were identical, but silver :-) Beware it's VERY heavy.

The link I provided was for reference, I actually got it from Halfords (£160!! was desperate as was having electrical draining issues the day before Xmas eve which turned out to be nothing to do with the battery - a story for another thread - but I figured the 6+ year old battery was maybe past its best) 5yr guarantee too.

The model number is the same as in the link. Hope that helps you mate!

Did some research into the battery and Varta came out the best. Even Audi gets the same on replacement.

Anyway, got the battery from http://www.tayna.co.uk/ which was around £90 for I1 (Varta code: 610 402 092) and next day delivery.

Made a big difference and all the electrical circuits are handing power very well. Most noticeable was on RS4 RNS SatNav you do get this flicker at times, but all those have gone.
Highly recommend the above company if anyone is thinking of changing the battery. Mine was around 8 years with the OEM battery !
