that you knew 1 day you had to have an audi rs4!!
I grew up on bikes and had my first motorbike at 11. i still have some now and because of this i always found hot hatches slow and boring. For that reason i keep the bikes. anyway it was bikes that got me into an rs4. back in 2003 i came off my bike and broke my collar bone so had to endure the wife driving me everywhere for 6 weeks. on a cold winters day coming home from torquay back towards exeter with wife driving there is a 2 mile straight that dips down and up the other side. we were pottering along about 80 when all of a sudden there was this sound that i can still remember now as this rs4 (b5 in 2003) thundered past must have been doing 130 plus and shook our old 306 everywhere and that very moment i thought 1 day i,ll have 1 of those. 10 years on i have my first proper car albeit a b7. anyone else remember there moments?

I liked the B5 and B7 RS4s since their introduction but they were way beyond my wallet. A few years ago we were walking on a country lane near Kendal and a B7 hammered along the main road about 100 yds from us across a field. I've still got that sound and image imprinted in my mind, so when the savings account looked healthy enough in 2012 I started looking. Briefly contemplated an M3, but the RS4 was always going to be then better choice and I've not regretted it for one moment despite the running costs. It's one of the few cars I've had that I'll just go out for a drive in for the sheer hell of it. I've got a V8 Mk 2 Escort that has a similar effect though only half the bhp.

B5 S4 at JP day in Bedford when Audi sponsored it in 1996 - lit the fire and got me into Audi's. Colleague had a 2001 B5 RS4 which just fuelled it through to 2005 when i got my first brand new non-company car - S4 Avant, then RS4 finally in 2010. A long, but pleasant journey through the ranks.

For me it was seeing the Misano Red RS4 that JC drove on Top Gear some years ago, I remember watching it thinking "some day".

I was talking about this to the gf tonight, i went to a car show and saw a blue saloon, they were selling something, could have been the miltek stand i cant remember, anyway looking at the engine bay with carbon fibre as standard in there ( pointless but cool) i knew i had to have one. or it could have been the topgear episode,
totally love it and dont know what id change for

I saw an Imola Yellow B5 RS4 pulling away from the toll booths on the Forth Road Bridge when they first came out.
Loved them ever since.

+1 for top gear "I have a feeling I'm sitting inches away from one of the best engines ever made" ( or something like that!)

Same for me, now I've got one I've got it record on sky lol I had a supercharged r32 before which sounded immense and I knew there was no way back from big engines with sound.

For me it was when Audi announced that the B7 RS4 was going to have a V8 - I've loved V8's since I was far too young to drive or own a car, and I just loved the way that the Group B Quattro rally cars seemed to be oblivious to surface conditions.
So when it became possible to have quattro AND a V8 it was a done deal for me, as soon as I could get a test drive I placed my order - and then had the pain of waiting 5 months for it to be made.

Another one from the Top Gear feature!
Will be moving on soon after a very happy 4 1/2 years, just hope the regret isn't too deep!

For me it began with a pax ride in a bored out, race prepared Quattro in the mid 90's. That beast hit significant mph on the digital speedo belting along southern M5 that day. Smitten.
Next significant event was seeing a b5 RS4 Avant with surfboards strapped to the roof belting down the A30 in to Cornwall, look stunning. Hooked.
The B7 RS4 Saloon threw me a curve ball as I'd always planned to get an Avant but after seeing a few 'loons especially Daytona ones mind was changed!
Whatever the body type I still get excited every time I see an RS4, even more so as am owner.
