Yet another oil cooler question (well a few actually)

I'm thinking of getting a Forge replacement cooler kit from Revolution and fitting it myself as it's a fair way for me to travel there and back to get them to fit it, even though their supply/fit offer price is very good.

So my questions are:

1. Is it reasonably easy for a novice like me to do?

2. Although there isn't a sticky for this job, I'm sure I saw a thread which included a step-by-step guide to replacing the cooler but I'm damned if I can find it. Can anyone point me in the eight direction please.

3. Likewise, I'm sure there's a guide to removing the front bumper; I even thought I'd printed it off, but again I can't find it. Any ideas where it would be if there is one?

Thanks in advance chaps

The instructions come on a USB stick with the kit

Not sure if you could separate the pipe from the oil cooler, so you'll need new pipes as well.

1. Can't be that hard, but you'll need to drop the oil first.

2. Can't help you there.

3. Try this one: http://www.euroaddiction.net/forum/b7-a ... moval.html

You don't iirc need to drop the oil - tr lines are above the sump so you only lose what's in the cooler

So that's why it's nearly a grand for unit, I'd take good old a4 for 400 off the top line, this has to be the most RS4 tax accessory out there!

Thanks guys. I'm going to take the bumper off over Christmas, check out the condition of the hoses and paint and Denso tape them if they're OK. If they're not too good I'll get a cooler and hoses from someone like Think Automotive and make up a bracket or adapt the old ones.

The Forge kit might be good, but £838 is taking the mick.

I like the denso tape idea! Might have to take some home from work and do mine!

I guess a large amount of the cost is down to developing and fabricating the part(s) in the first place? And the USB stick :biggrin3:

Going to take my bumper off to and check out the pipes. Any doubt and there be replaced and will try and fit new pipes to original cooler. I like the look of the forge kit but again a bit pricey. £5-£600 max and I,d just buy and replace anyway but not at £840!!

This item is considerably cheaper than the equivalent item from audi! As long as this performs as well as the oem cooler what is everyones problem? This item comes with a lifetime guarantee whereas the audi one WILL fail again at some point!

You can purchase all the items required (except the mounting brackets) for less than £350 and thats being generous.
