H&R Coilovers Owners Reviews? What are they like?
H&R Coilovers Owners Reviews? What are they like?
Hi guys,
Noticed a few members are running H&R Coilovers. I was hoping to get some feedback on these since I need to get my failing DRC replaced asap.
KW v3 are still my no.1 choice but I can't help but think I am spending an extra £500 + on them for adjustable dampening which once set I very much doubt I will touch.
H&R, like the Bilstein PSS9 B14 are ride hieght only adjustable I think.
Those that have H&R Coilovers could you please comment on:
1. Handling and Ride Comfort compared to DRC if you can, Ride especially over rough ground.
2. Extra noises or knocking
3. Ease of adjustment
4. How long you have had them and any reliability concerns you have.
General question but can the ride height be set to be pretty much the same as standard height?
Thanks
Anees

So no one then? lol
I've looked on US Audi forums and they do seem well regarded but I'd rather get some UK feedback too.
Thanks

don't know a great deal about H&R's lots of people have used them on the c5 rs6 and believe they are quite good, however I would go for the kw's for the b7

Speak to Unit 20 first
The standard set up is good and I would stick with that unless you want to go very low but ask Unit 20 for advice
- you don't want spend a load of cash and ruin the ride

Kw's don't ruin the ride quality, very slightly firmer with much sharper handling

I've just had the H&R kit fitted to my b7 RS4.
1. It's a bit firmer than the DRC but its still very comfortable.
2. So far less knocking and noises as my DRC was away. No noises or knocks as yet.
3. Only had them a over a week and only done 90-100 mile.
I would save ur extra 500 and put a set of anti roll bars in as the dampening doesnt need changed IMO. They will be my next mod.

I would be interested to see what they are like on a twisty B road - that is the kind of road the RS4 does thrive on. If they soak up the bumps and don't skip then they are definetly worth considering. The RS4 is not a track car for me and I doubt very much I will play with the dampening at all once installed unless its rock hard, but my research from US forums seems to suggest that they are very well sprung.

3 out of 4 of my stocks are leaking - already been to Unit 20. They can supply 4 new shocks for around £800 + Vat, then DRC regass for £150 + Vat and if the pressure valve is knackered then around another £150 + Vat. I would also need them to fit them because DRC shocks can not be driven on onced fitted before being filled with the gass which only Audi or a specialist like Unit 20 can do. Labour is around 4 hours @ £55 an hour so looking at roughly £1170 + Vat assuming the pressure valve is ok so around £1400 inc Vat.

Thing I am worried about is I do all this work and then find it fails again. I'd rather spend once and get coilovers like many have done.

That was the exact reasoning I used to put in Coilovers, I run KW V3's the ride is slightly firmer but overall the car feels a lot sharper...

No I've found it has less roll than the DRC. I just think the saving on the extra price for the KWs would be better spent on the anti roll bars. Every little helps.Anees wrote:Thanks for the feedback - much appreciated. Sounds good!Garethtdi100 wrote:I've just had the H&R kit fitted to my b7 RS4.
