Windsreen Washer Upgrade

I found Audi actually make a kit to upgrade the washer jets from 2 nozzles to the later tri-jets (4F0 098 101) so I ordered it to tri out.

When the kit arrived it consisted of a set of Audi tri-jet heated washers (8J0 955 987 G & 8J0 955 988 G) with some spacers that fit to the bonnet to make them fit. It also came with a CD that showed how to align the jets for the windscreen - it seems a decent upgrade for the sake of 5 minutes to fit.

I also had a set of Passat fan jets 5M0 955 986 C which also fit fine with the spacers too. They are much better nozzles as spray an even mist onto the screen & also adjust quite neatly with a T-10 rather than messing about with pins but even at the highest alignment seem a little low vs the Audi nozzles.

In summary I think the tri jets are the best for the A4 as with the fans you have to sync the washing a bit to avoid washing the wiper arms instead of the windows as they aren't really at the right angle but both will work.

In don't know if the parts are avaialable separately but if anyone wants to build their own kit the PN for the spacers is as follows - then just add the jets of your choice.

8E0 955 431 - will need 2 pieces

Nice little upgrade that MB2 :thumb: :beerchug: :thumb:

What did the kit cost?

I see you say "will need 2 pieces" and assume that's 2 x 8E0 955 431

I think the kit was about 35 but if they sell the spacers by themselves then I expect would be much cheaper to buy the components rather than the kit itself.

Yes - one spacer for each jet.

No problem - just put the PNs in for the tri-jet washers (unlike the Passat jets they are handed) so all the PNs in the one post.

Great stuff! One of my drivers side nozzles has become self aware and randomly fires wherever it wants.

Where did you order from? I'm keen to get some.

There is a 2 pin plug that clips onto the back of the washer jets (same fitting on the 2 jet, 3 jet & fan jets) I guess is just a short circuit that comes on with the ignition to warm the assembly up.

Ordered the kit through Audi & would expect have to do the same for the spacers although am sure the washer jets will also be on eBay.

Will take all of 5 minutes to fit & if you are looking at buying new jets anyway well worth going for these instead. Aiming is a bit tricky best bet is to use a dry-wipe marker, mark the points on the windscreen then copy them to the inside of the screen then adjust with a long pin or better a small socket over the jets.

Oh so the OEM ones are already heated? I didn't know that!

My drivers side outer jet has just started playing up again so this is well timed. I've got to go in Audi's to get some rocker cover gaskets for mine so will order this kit while I'm in there. Just for clarity am I right in saying the kit number is: 4FO 098 101?

Yup new ones needed anywho so these will be better! Aiming them with a safety pin works for me, we used re-aim peoples jets at work to spray off to the pavement. Made for comical city driving.
